Allah knows best. but he seems to be the best we got by miles although the bar to be best is rather low these days. personally i like him and think he is sincere. yh he could do more on international stage but will the ummah defend him if he does? internally he has changed turkey from one of the most hardcore seculurist to a very islamic orientated nations.

I have travelled in Turkey extensively and dealt with Turkish people in depth. I don't know Erdogan at all personally but what I can tell you is that I witnessed with my own two eyes the days when girls used to smuggle clothes in their bags, sneak out during lunch, make Wudhu pray and then put their skirts back in to get back to school after lunch.

I remember the days during summer when Beer/Alcohol was more common then water in Istanbul.

I remember the days when those in Sunnah were rare and looked down upon, you HARDLY EVER saw a woman in Hijab (let alone Niqab) in public areas of Turkey. The rural areas and villages of Turkey were always cultural. I almost got arrested by the military for calling the Adhan in an abandoned Mosque because we waited and waited and waited during Maghrib and nobody came to the Mosque

The Imam/Muadhin were NOWHERE but the military/villagers/Imam came to beat me up just because I called the Adhan.

Mosques used to be the centre of cards and amusements (visit Germany and many Turkish Mosques still are). The graduates of Government Darul-ulooms were ignorant of basic teachings of Hanafi Madhab.

TODAY, Turkey looks nothing like what it looked like even 15 years ago.

It has not become a Shariah state (and it won't in 20 years either) but there is a difference of night and day between Turkey of old and Turkey of today both in terms of economy and Islam.

Europeans used to make fun of Turkey trying to get into EU because of their stagnant economy, you don't see EU laughing now! They won't let Turkey in because of Islam but no more due to economic issues.

I think even if he wants to stay in power, I'm fine with it as long as it is going in the right direction (exemples of which are given above).
Wassalam.

i briefly visited istanbul 20 years ago with some friends. we were dressed in sunnah with amamah. people were amazed to see us. in top kapei museum someone came up to us thinking we were part of the exhibition.

i thought that the rural people were more closer to the deen? what problem did the imam have with someone praying in the masjid? why did they have a problem with the adhan when even then adhan was given over loud speakers in the cities?

erdogan seems to have steered turkey in a more islamic direction. he seems like a strong leader and can hold his ground. what happens when there is no more erdogan? the secularist hate what has happened to turkey and i worry that if in later years they gain power they will go wild in destroying islam again in turkey.

Constantinople will be recaptured by Muslims under the leadership of Imam Mahdi. This means that Turkey will be re captured by the Romans. Currently, I feel that Erdagon is inviting Nato to conquer Turkey because the Europeans will never tolerate a secular Turkey transforming into a caliphate (2023 plans). Wallah o Alam.

The caliphate will re emerge from Khorasan and not from Turkey. The pakhtuns will rule the world very soon.

Before Erdogan, Turkish Government tightly controlled (still do) Mosques, Imams etc. NOBODY could say anything or have a program etc without Government approval. We were in a village and time for Maghrib came, we waited, waited and waited and nobody came to the Mosque.

We checked the timetable and if I recall correctly may be (20 minutes) after Maghrib had passed. We should have just prayed and left INSTEAD we decided to turn on the loud speaker and call the Adhan.

When the voice of Adhan echoed in the village, the villagers came informed the Military and they all started coming to the Mosque.

Ottomans always built the Mosque on the highest point and most prominent region of the city so it had to take them some time to get to us. All the mountains and hills echoed with Adhan and we started praying and prayed quickly the 3 Fardh.

We could see Jeeps arriving and people coming up the mountain so we promptly ran from the other side of the mountain.

“Islam” in Turkey was (and still is) is very ritualistic i.e. Imam has to make specific Dhik’r at specific times etc while we just called Adhan and prayed which was unacceptable. We were breaking the law by operating the Mosque without permission which was a huge deal in Turkey (before Erdogan).

This is a possibility, but not necessary. The mahdi will not just be opposed by non muslims, but muslims who do not recognise him will also oppose him - especially governments as they will have to relinquish their power and control to the mahdi.

Can you explain this 2023 plan please.

no doubt the pukhtoons are good at advancing forward. but they are not good at administrating. i think it will not just be a pukhtoon effort, but a joint effort with others.

Pakhtoons have good qualities but they are also a bunch of racist bigots who ill treated many who migrated to Afghanistan for the sake of Islam.

Try being a dark-skinned African living under the Taliban and you will see the treatment of the Pakhtoons (first hand).

Anyone who disagrees or want to argue about this point is delusional and immersed in (false) Pakhtoon (race baited) ideology.

it will start from khurasan, but i think it wont be just the pathaans involved. others will steer it forward.

Every race is facing the problem of racism. However, I have good opinion of the pakhtuns over all (I am not a pakhtun myself). They have sacrificed a lot for Islam and I believe them to be the cream of this ummah. I see similarities between them and good old Arabs. Currently they are the most fierce and most feared by the kuffar. I don't know why but my heart says that the bulk of that lashkar will consist of honest, brave and pious pakhtuns.

brother i lived with them. dont fall into the trap of romanticism when it comes to these matters - as i did. like everyone they have their issues as well. like everyone there are those that are good, those that are bad, and the majority fall somewhere inbetween.

today as muslims we feel hopeless and look for hope. we search for a saviour. if you think they are our saviours because they are pukhtoon from the afghan mountains then you will be very disappointed when you realise the reality.

like colonel said, they are very racist, which stems from their arrogance as a people. it was this arrogant tribal pride which lead them to sideline the arabs and others who joined them, and who could have helped them had they been given a bigger role.
