It is a sad fact that ulama are under represented in the marakiz (centers) of tabligh the world over, except possibly for Raiwind, Nizamuddin, and Kakrail. And, I am sure the akabir in these three marakiz do not endorse such statements of the juhala. We must remember these are juhala, and it is the duty of the people of ilm to correct the mistakes of the juhala (and if the juhala are stubborn, as would be expected of them, then to convey the mistakes with much hikmat and patience is also required).

if they cant stop their members from corrupting the real ideology of tabligh jamaat then their system is broken and needs to be reviewed. if their ulama and zimmidar do not take on this responsibility, then just like any other organisation they will be held responsible and accountable for this.

but saying that, it is the juhala who are really in control of tabligh jamaat and make tabligh jamaat what it is, purely on the basis that there are so many of them worldwide and very prolific in disseminating their ignorance.

i have had many debates with life long tabligh jamaat members and have been flatly told to my face that there is no need for any other efforts of the deen except for tabligh jamaat. this particular person who said this is not an alim, very ignorant, is on the complete mashwera and tarteeb of tabligh jamaat, spends 4 months in tabligh jamaat every year without fail. he is very aggressive towards other efforts of deen just like many other tablighis. in fact i have found that it is the hardcore tablighis who are more likely to display this type of attitude. i used to be one of them. i know through personal experience what tablighis think of other efforts and other ulama.

We know that this is not the manhaj of the akabir of tabligh, past and present. The akabir have always been an embodiment of inclusiveness and the saff e awwal (the front runners) have always been a combination of ilm, tazkiya, and dawat.

However, you cannot fault the juhala for their stance because anyone who is engaged heart and soul with any effort will, due to human nature, betray a sense of ghuloo (extremist behavior) for what they are engaged in. That is a natural tendency, and they will only try to subdue their nafs (base self) against it when they visit the majalis (gatherings) of the ulama and mashaikh.

This singlemindedness has been alluded to in the Aap Beeti of Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya (RH) when he talked about a debate between Hadhrat Maulana Ilyas (RH) and Hadhrat Meeruthi (RH) when both individuals became agitated discussing their stance. Hadhrat Meeruthi (RH) cautioned Maulana Ilyas (RH) about his tendency towards ghuloo and Maulana Ilyas (RH) tried to refute him. Maulana Zakariyya (RH) mediated and brought tempers back down by explaining that for anyone to truly accomplish something of worth, they must exhibit ghuloo (extremist tendencies) in their work.

salaam

i think the ghuloo of the past cannot be compared to the ghuloo of the present day. the ghuloo of the present day has gone beyond extreme.

others also display ghuloo in their own efforts, but the ghuloo of tabligh jamaat is institutionalised. it has become the culture of tabligh jamaat. i have spent time with many purana sathis, and they actually believe and propagate that tabligh jamaat is the embodiment of islam and that all other efforts are vain and useless. in turn i have NEVER come across anyone from any other efforts who denies the need for dawah and tabligh.

wa-alaykum-as-salam:

from the very beginning, a majority of those who have been drawn into the effort have been from the "unrefined" masses. when they become part of the effort, they abandon a lot of the external raza'il (bad qualities), but the internal raza'il tend to multiply unless checked by the company of the ulema and mashaikh.

this is not true of the other two efforts of deen, taleem and tazkiya. the people in the works of taleem and tazkiya are mostly from the "refined" classes. this is why there is refinement in their thoughts, in their speech, in their actions.

there is much greater mujahida in keeping oneself attached to the effort of tabligh because of the kind of people involved, from top to bottom, and not everyone is cut out for it. this is why the ulema and mashaikh advise us to join an effort of deen that is more in keeping with our temperment, because it aids in isteqamat (steadfastness) in that effort.

the elders used to say in their bayanat (speeches) that this effort of dawah is like the foundation of building a house. the foundation contains unshapely and unsightly rocks and stones and will be buried and forgotten, but the building that will come into existence because of the foundation will be beautiful (referring to the visible aspects of deen such as muasharat, muamlaat, akhlaq which can only be achieved through taleem and tazkiya).

With all due respect my brothers, Tablighi Jamaat is not the topic of this Galloway thread.

Please stick to the topic or open a new thread.
