Asalam o Alaikum,
I don’t know how much time is left before WW3 begins. I also am hearing about our Muslim brethren in the West having difficult times. However, I think there is no harm in sharing ideas.
I very strongly believe that those nations who forget their history repeat the same mistakes their elders made and are ignorant of the actions which led them to success. Losing one’s identity is the greatest crisis one can ever face.
Although history is not a source of Shariah but it is indeed a source of inspiration and a valuable resource for learning wisdom and experience of the ancient. Inspiration and clarity of thought are the most needed things in today’s gloomy times. Therefore, I have some ideas to present and preserve (Correct Version Of) history through Islamic Arts.
The kuffar are doing their best to propagate their message through entertainment.
The liberals are doing their best to promote their agenda through entertainment.
The radicals are doing their best to brainwash through entertainment.
What are traditionalists doing to present the correct version of Islam in the best of manner?
According to my very limited knowledge of Islam, poetry was allowed and encouraged in the times of Sahaba RA to uplift the morale and moral conscience of Muslims. It was used to encourage good deeds and ethics in Muslimeen. It was also used to uplift the morale of Mujahideen in the battlefield.
Why can’t we use the mediums of this age to promote our message?
- To depict accurate historic events of Muslims, how about arranging theatre plays within the bounds of Shariah. Only male characters perform different scenes of the plays and for female characters in the story, the narrator narrates that part of the story. If anyone of you have read historic epic novels of Naseem Hijazi, is it a bad idea to make those kinds of novels come into life through theatre plays? You may think it a modern form of storytelling.
- A team of talented animators creating animations and cartoons of silhouettes without facial features within the bounds of Shariah promoting Islamic messages for children and events of Islamic history.
- A movement of halal graphic design in which great effort is put to adopt every Islamically legal design element and experimentation of inventing new ways of expressing. Similarly, Islamic comics on the pattern of Islamic cartoons.
- A team of good and talented writers to write great historic and social reform novels.
- A separate department for Islamic Arts in Madaris. Also a dedicated department for training debaters to defeat atheists, secularists, liberalists and the remaining “ists”.
A point to ponder: Would Allama Iqbal have had the same impact if he would have used dry philosophical books instead of using an engaging and passionate poetry to deliver his message.
I would encourage other members to share their ideas and opinions as well.
