with the 70th anniversary of 'independence' ( going from britians slaves to americas poodle) was pakistan a waste?

not once in its 70yrs for a single day has it ruled by shariah. majority of people there for what i see and been told are ignorant off islam and elite are all secular.

ps anyone know of any good books and stuff about the time of partition. saw a few docs on bbc this week..i know very little. my mum n latw father where born before partition but never really mentioned it. some of the guys interviewed on todays bbc witnessed it and all had horror stories to tell. its a scandal that this period of history is not taught properly

In 1945, what choice did they have?

sorry but my knowledge of the events are close to 0 so forgive my questions but what are you saying? that they had no choice? i thought deobandi akaabir were split on the issue and even the entire idea of pakistan and creation of it was down to the hardwork and sacrifce of deobandi ulema.

wasnt alot of elders and ulema saying to keep the country as one and muslims will have their muslim majority states and hindus will have theirs. should a law be passed which is anti islam the muslim majority states would be able to veto it?

fair enough hindsight we can all say what was good/bad but considering pakistan is the ONLY country carved out for muslims by muslims has never even come close to being an islamic state. you would expect of all the muslim nations to follow shariah it would be a country had men women and children sacrificed their blood for so a pure muslim country can be established

Alhamdulillah Pakistan was created. It was a relief for many and many.

It all happened much before me and i have nothing to do with it, but i saw many who were from those time and lived to see it all, and they said Alhamdulillah to it. For me that is enough to say, it was not a waste and a blessing for many.

And Allah Tala tests his slave both in blessings/prosperity and hardships.

Judging 1945 in 2017:

Let’s completely ignore history, turn ourselves away from the facts (of 1945), take a superficial view, and explore it in 2017:

  1. Is life and property of "Muslims" safer in India or Pakistan?
  2. Are the prospects of "Muslims" better in India or Pakistan?
  3. Do "Muslims" in India or Pakitan have the ability to live by Shariah?

In question 3, I have said “ability” I haven’t asked or commented as to whether they are living by it or not.

honest answer to all ur questions are ' i dont know' muslims in india are at mercy of hindus who can attack anytime and in pak its complety lawless and corrupt thus just as bad.

secondly my point was if muslims had remained in india and united there they would have been stronger no? rather than half going pak and half remaining.

Do you think that considering the situations on paper (and on face value in 2017) Muslims of Pakistan are safer and have the “ability” to live their life according to Islam?

Agree or disagree? Then we will rewind back to 1945

Good questions !

It is useless to discuss how and why Pakistan was created.Pakistan is a reality. The question:'if it was an entire waste' can be raised about any other country and will be as much relevant as it is for Pakistan.
