As salam alaykum

The womenfolk in our household have started listening to Urdu tafseer duroos called Nurul Quran via Whatsapp on the recommendation of other sisters in our extended family.

I have not been able to verify the credentials of the tafseer teacher. Perhaps knowledgeable members of the forum can guide us as to whether the tafseer is reliable.

salaam

how do you expect anyone to look into this without you providing any details? at least provide the name of the scholar or even a link to the app so we have something to go on.

Sorry, my bad.

I did a little digging online by looking up "Nurul Quran Whatsapp" and this is what I was able to find:

nqdonation.com/whatsapp/

Apparently, the scholar is someone called Ustazah Iffat Maqbool.

This is what another web page has to say about the scholar:

"Ustazah Iffat Maqbool.having gained a Masters in Islamic Studies from Punjab University, Pakistan. Travelled to Egypt for Advanced education. She is the founder of Nurulquran International Institute, A forum serving as source of Guidance through Quran. An inspirational teacher of the Tafseer and Hadith. She has sound knowledge of the Arabic language and entwines Arabic grammar into her lessons so as to give a deeper meaning and explanation of the Quran. Along with giving a detailed tafseer, she also helps students extract lessons from the Quran so that we may apply its verses into our daily lives. The programs she conduct are for all age groups, online and on-site since last 15 years.

Her Vision is to Enlighten the hearts, homes and lives with the Nur of Al Quran. Instilling the love of the humanity .Share the Ultimate Truth with every culture and religon by serving them. An immense urge to brighten the hereafter for every human on the face of earth. Unlimited Zeal to spread waves of positivity through wisdom and correct knowledge.

Her Core Mission stays as to bring about a constructive revival of a Muslim Ummah. An Ummah leading its existence with the true motives of Life, with a dedication staunch and stronger than a rock. Infusing a pragmatic thinking pattern in every soul.

Her Talks usually circulates around the basic theme My home My paradise, Family relations."

Taken from:

www.nq-international.com/aboutus/ustazaiffatmaqbool

So, it looks like the scholar has an affiliation with Al Azhar.

I was hoping someone else on the forum might have heard of these duroos and might know if they are reliable or not.

AA,

Disclaimer: In the Hanafi Madhab normal voice of a woman is not Aurah so there is nothing wrong with me listening to some of these lectures to see what they are about but Fatwa givers can give their statement satisfy their Nafs and move along! I have no idea who was speaking and don't care, just wanted to see what is being said.

She is speaking in a very easy matter of fact tone and method which any educated and professional woman can easily understand, no jargon and technical terms at all.

Actual Issue:

I have taken the time to listen to these lectures.

The Fiqh books which they are using are by Iqbal Kilani (Jamia Malik Saud, Riyadh) whose father was the student of Shaykh Muhammad Ismail Salafi (RA). Most of the books and material is published by Abdul Malik Mujahid.

So it can be deduced that this organisation is Ghair-Muqallid (Ahl-e-Hadeeth) or similarly leaning.

There is NOTHING Deobandi on this level so your family have no other oppurtunites to listen to a woman so I can understand why they are listening to this.

Jzk

WS:

I was hoping to get an answer from someone who might already have been familiar with these lectures.

You took time out to download and listen to these lectures to answer an anonymous query on an internet forum? Who does that? I am moved beyond words. It was never my intent to burden anyone in this way. I am so ashamed of myself.

May Allah swt reward you immensely Shaykh Muadh in this world and in the hereafter.

It is our job to work together for the Ummah so if these lectures are good we need to encouarge our Sisters to listen OR at least give them the full picture.

Jzk for your Duas
