nothing to forgive brother, u were right to ask, and maripiat summed it up. maybe i could have chosen better words and languge but i just feel frustrated with our scholars. we are the closes to haq, we hav most celebrated akaabir and history, we have most amount of masaajids and things at our disposal yet i dont see any direction or foresightedness. its as if we are living off the legacy of our akaabir. yes we did do good stuff and we have alot to be proud of but once u get satisfied with past thats when you tend to let guard down and slip. or maybe i just expect too much from our ulema and keep comparing them to the scholars of past
Jazakallah khairan brother, i feel really bad. I agree with you, we should not live off a legacy. We need to make effort. I think the wording of your posts confused me, maybe it was due to me skimming through them.
There have been some more developments on abu layth.
It basically started with an attack by some of the media on the islamic issue of how many miles a lady can travel without her Mahram (guardian). For more details of this please see the blog post by Muadh Khan
Abu Layth instead of supporting a fellow believe or remaining silent decided to jump on the anti-islamic bandwagon. I guess this might have something to do with his links to Qulliam and other such modernists/enemies of our religion;
So on his facebook page Abu Layth launched a stinging attack;
Well...this is what happens when some people aren't prepared to update their #Fiqh!
Consequently, a mockery is made of the Deen!
We are taught
حدثوا الناس قدر عقولهم، أتحب ان يكذب الله و رسوله
"Speak to people with reason lest they should deny Allah and His Messenger "
Yet despite such clear teachings and an amazing Deen...people continue to teach such nonsense!
What an absurdity...that a woman can travel 47.9 miles but not 48! Such views are an abomination to human civility! And especially to women liberties!
These kind of views belong in caves and not communities!...another reason why many people leave the Faith...due to the illogical and laughable legislation of certain men...and the silence of others!
Make NO mistake in understanding that despite what the local Mulla tells you...this view is NOT from the Quran nor Sunnah...all else is simply an opinion...and in this case most certainly an absurd one!
The key principle as many Maliki Spanish Muslims like Ibn Battal and alBaaji in their commentaries had said over 1000 years ago the matter was simply her safety and convenience...if assured then ofcourse she can travel independently.
shes not a child nor mentally handicapped...why would you then treat her so?
Also bear in mind that we are not slaves to the simple opinions of men that were not only nonsensical but were also challenged by others in their age.
Loyalty lies with Allah & His Messenger alone...all else is susceptible to criticism.
May Allah inspire us to grasp the harmonious message of this Deen one of mercy and sound reason, ameen.
Any sane person reading the above can see it is a clear attack on Islamic teachings. If we analyze the statement below we could use that for any Islamic teaching. Why 2.5% zakah? Why 5 times salah? A lot of questions that the devil can pose.
What an absurdity...that a woman can travel 47.9 miles but not 48!
He then states that These kind of views belong in caves and not communities! which is basically sticking up his fingers at many centuries of scholarship. He makes lofty claims of tolerance but look at how dismissive he is of normal Islamic opinions.
Abu Layth in the above post makes a claim another reason why many people leave the Faith...due to the illogical and laughable legislation of certain men...and the silence of others!
So he is asking others to speak up. The friend of Abu Layth known as Ismail Patel, Harris Hammam tagged the following users to the post by Abu Layth;
Shafi Chowdhury Waqas Raja Mujahid Ali سلمان بن ناصر Hasib Noor Uwais Namazi
What I find interesting is the names he chose to tag. I will not say anything further now but there seems to be a pattern emerging. So why does Ismail Patel harris hammam not tell us what he thinks of this situation. Is it ok to lambast an opinion held by Muslim scholars? So enough silence harris hammam let us here your side of the story or as per Abu Layth logic he is guilty for people apostating. Harris hammam and abu layth have spent a lot of time refuting deobandis for small slips. There is no coincidence in all these events.
A brother in response to abu layth ridiculous post rightly quoted Mufti Desai in a facebook post. The above is a normal response from any sane Mufti;
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra, Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar, Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbaas and Sayyiduna Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri [radhiallaahu anhum] have reported that Rasulullah [Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam] said, ‘It is not permissible for a woman to undertake a journey (of 88 kms or more) without a Mahram (person with whom marriage is permanently prohibited, for example, father, brother, etc.).’ (Sahih Bukhari Hadith3006, 1727 / Sahih Muslim Hadith3245, 3256, 3257, 3259)
It is Makrooh-e-Tahrimi (close to Haraam) for a woman to travel for 88 kms or more without a Mahram. (Shaami vol.2 pg.465; HM Saeed). It is also not permissible for a woman to travel without a Mahram in short distances (lesser than 88 kms) if there is a fear of Fitnah, crime, etc.
In response abu layth mocked at the fatwa by hazrat mufti Desai
Really ...so the Prophet was quoting miles or kilometers now was he?? 😲😱
please quote the arabic without all the (...) interpolated nonsense...this'll be fun!!! 😂😂😂
And for the record Mufti Desai wasnt God the last i checked...and for the record his version of Islam is identical to that of the Taliban...im not surprised he holds such a view...so if you stop quoting random people and actually quote what Allah and His Messenger have said...without all the added interpretations please.
I cant believe people will go to such lengths to attribute lies to the Messenger of Allah just to defend their fiqh!!
This is what we're putting up with...no wonder the Deen has become a joke!!..so according to you God will let a woman travel to 87 or 86 kilometres but not 88?..becuase beyond that she probably doesnt have the mental faculty to navigate herself!!! 😂😂
I mean seriously please keep 'Islam for Neaderthals' to yourself.
Nobody wants this ridiculed version of Islam by which you're trying EVER SO hard to impose your patriarchal rule!.
Please note how he addresses his oponnents as being mentally challenged. Has he looked into their heads and hearts? Also have a look at the passage highlighted in bold and how he attacks Mufti Desai for a mere difference of opinion. Where is your tolerance, freedom of expression abu layth? You claim we are backward but look at your language, disrespect and scorn.
Thereafter Abu Layth has another go at deobandis; See the highlighted piece where he attacks deobandis specifically south african ones (another point he probably picked up or was shared by Harris Hammam who has a particular dislike for South African deobandis equating all of them to Mufti A S Desai. Talk about generalizations from so-called half educated Muslims. The first to say things like we should not use labels, move away from groupism etc but then lambast all deobandis as being Taliban) He also attacks Shaykh Abdur raheem limbada which I assume is part of the co-ordinated attacks on shaykh limbada by both Harris Hammam Ismail Patel and Abu layth.
You cant blame me!
I criticised such pathetic views a few years ago..what followed was...to be continuously condemned by the South African Talibanised Deobandis...and some of their ardent supporters in the UK...even Shaykh AbdulRaheem Limbada joint their bandwagon!
They reacted as though id questioned the Quran...
And now?...we have a mockery of our Deen due to the degenerate perspectives of some men!
As to the question on interpretation...well you could interpret a tree to mean a helicopter!...its only an interpretation.
Some people did hold this view and they were challenged by the Spanish Muslims over 1000 years ago as being silly and nonsensical.
To still preach such medieval views in our times and context is either to be so stubbornly arrogant or mentally challenged, either ways...it causes many to abandon this Deen.
Where is the likes of Harris Hammam Ismail Patel and the other foolish individuals at Islamic awakening who accuse deobandis of being like madkhalis. Does any of the above look like a deobandi was attacking anyone? Who is writing childish refutations of deobandis. It is the tag team of abu layth and harris hammam along with their hidden supporters within deobandi/non deobandi ranks. Why does harris hammam not highlight any of these inconsistencies or bring it up? These people are all part of the same group of friends to whom their group/friendship means more than the truth. I previously did a refutation of some members of this group and lo behold a maulana who is part of this group started giving me dirty looks when previously he used to always be very friendly with me.
Anyway finally Mashallah Shaykh Abdur raheem laid down the issue with Abu Layth. The guy is treading on thin ground. His imaan is in grave danger. He is making statements which constitute mockery of deen. Please see Shaykh Limbada response below;
"Do not make a mockery of the instructions of Allah" (Quran: 2/ 231)
و لا تتخذوا آيات الله هزوا
....انما نحن مستهزءون. الله يستهزيء بهم و يمدهم في طغيانهم يعمهون
Some people not only mock fellow human beings, they also make fun of Allah, His Rasul, and their instructions, saying they are instruction for the cave, not for us. This leads a person to kufr. Such people should be very careful.
In light of the above verses, fuqahaa have deduced:
الاستهزاء بالشريعة كفر و الاستخفاف بالمعصية كفر (شرح العقائد النسفية)
Day by day we Muslims suffer a lot of abuse at the hands of the locals, but sad to say that we now have our own mocking us.
A few details of the chap can be found in the link below. May Allah give him hidayat and protect us from all evils. I would invite such people towards reading the kalima again, as I fear their Iman might have already deserted them. I'm not a takfeeri, but the case of mockery is very severe.
Assalamu Alaikum, I saw this thread being promoted of facebook. I have no interest in defending Mufti Abu Layth, and I have disagreed with and been shocked at his his attitude to mainstream valid opinions which differ to his personal opinions. I, however, do not agree with the following:
Quote:
If we analyze the statement below we could use that for any Islamic teaching. Why 2.5% zakah? Why 5 times salah? A lot of questions that the devil can pose.
"What an absurdity...that a woman can travel 47.9 miles but not 48!"
Is it really fair to compare questioning the distance a woman can travel alone with the percentage of zakah, and the number of times a Muslim pray? Isn't there much more leeway when it comes to distance of travel needed to become a traveller etc, vs the percentage we have to pay on zakat, and the number of times we have to pray?
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
