salam

before i begin i feel bad bringing this topic up and if mods feel its not wise to discuss then by all means delete this thread. i was listening to shaykh yasir qadhis seerah and he went over the issue of the so called 'satanic' verses. he said generally there are 3 versians. firstly being the one mention in bukhari that the power of surah najm was soo much even the disbelievers couldnt resist and fell in to sujood except either ummay/mugreerah who just wiped sand on their head and said thats my sujood.

version two was shaytan slips in two verses which only the kuffar heard

version three rasooluallah (saw) recited the verses himself which he thougth was from gibreel.

he said most accept version from bukhari but major scholars like ibn asqalani رضي الله عنه accepted version 2 and ibn taymiyyah رضي الله عنه accepted version 3.

is this true? what is the akaabir and early hanafi opinion on this matter? ibn taymiyyah رضي الله عنه supports version 3 due to an ayah in surah haj which Allah says other propehts also had similar problem but Allah abrogated the false ayahs.

Yeah, I remember that episode too.

All 3 opinions have some substantial basis behind it, but I'm inclined that the first opinion seems most plausible.

Allah knows best.
