Jazak'Allah brother.
I hope it would also depend what good deed or type worship is being referred, and to what extend one boasted. I can't see how a moment of stupidity can result in a cycle of good deeds being wiped clean.

some thoughts i had...i don't mean to argue...
1) whenever i show off or a feeling of pride comes to mind, i immediately make dua "Ya Allah, don't wipe out these good deeds, You are too Raheem and Kareem, please forgive me instead!"
2) bro Imam Ali, you should direct your questions, especially those of this nature, to Ulama you know irl. preferably Ulama who are down-to-earth and know their stuff. Otherwise, you can email someone like Mufti Ebrahim Salejee who is a competent Alim of shariah, a respected shaykh of Tariqah and easily accessible by email. There are only a dozen regular posters on MuftiSays, and how of them have knowledge and understanding?
3) I have learnt this "good deeds getting wiped out by a little showing off" concept from Ulama and Mashayikh myself. so why is the saathi to blame when he's simply saying what authentic Ulama say and write?
4) Never have I heard that it against the usool to advise a person. Never have I heard that all of our discussions should be within the 6 points. I have learnt that while in jamat and gusht then keep your talks within the 6 points. The brother spoke to a (tabligi) saathi at some point in his life and heard about this "showing off" concept...so what? are tabligi saathis never allowed to speak to another Muslim brother unless he gives him a 6 poiints bayan?
A recent convert in my masjid has been for 40 days...sometimes he speaks good of ISIS and it scares me to think what he must be learning about them...should I not advise him because this topic is outside the 6 points? then if he does something stupid, who will be to blame?
Alhamdulillah, I learnt about many extremely important deeni issues from tabligi saathis and ulama in jamat. fiqh, aqeedah, current affairs. The Imam, a Mufti, refused to speak to me about Isha timings for example but I learnt about it from saathis.
5) This topic does fall under the 5th quality, tasheeh-e-niyyat (correcting one's intention), or ikhlas as some people say.
6) Usools are guidelines. Not shari' ahkam. We should not raise it to such a level where we point at other brothers and single them out for abandoning usool. This is a tactic from Shaytan devised to disunite the brothers.

You have never heard that queries pertaining to Shariah and above and beyond 6 points should be directed to Ulama and not to "Saathees"? Where did you spent 4 months???

This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
Please wait...
