The steps in brief are:

step 1: Create a shock about radical new topic/idea - most people will speak against it, it will go against prevailing ideals and values. There will be outrage. The person who brought it up will be demonised but in reality he is being successful as he/she is now setting the agenda

2. Discussions will start on the issue in TV, radio, papers, internet discussions etc. People will be talking about it and at this time most people will be against the new idea. However due to the continous exposure to the topic people become desensitised and even tolerant towards it.

3. Now bigger debates start on the new idea. Higher profile figures start discussing the idea in public. New theories are formed about the idea, pro's and con's are mentioned and all of a sudden the idea does not seem so obnoxious to more and more people. Simply put tolerance is being created towards the new radical idea. People can somehow see some sort of plausibilty in the new idea.

4. Now to prove it new researched and tested theories are formed on the idea. So sociologists, scientists, universities etc get involved to make it a topic of study. Study it's consequences etc. For it to be a topic of research the idea has already gained plausibilty in many parts of society.

5. After social and scientific studies have been done it is clearly an acceptable alternative way of living or viewing the world. It's the loony crazy radical idea we all initially thought it was.

6. Now terms are coined for the few people still against the idea e.g backwards, incestophobic, freedom hater, homophobic etc.

7. Now it is a venerated practice. People who are willing to come out and support idea are praised. Especially celebrities.

All the 7 steps above can be seen having happened over the last 50 years in many aspects of society e.g nudity, homosexuality, israel, mortages etc.
