1. have patience and steadfastness
2.keep your gaze on the grace of allah taala
3.do not abandon any commandment of allah taala
4.keep making dua and also strategise/consult
5.do taubah/istighfaar
6.if the difficulty is upon a brother take it as a difficulty upon oneself

my addition
help whoever you can ,wherever muslim or non muslim
do not run away from or abandon anyone
now is not a time for cowardice but a time of earning great rewards by helping those in great difficulties

only those whom it is legal and halal to help

a good example in the u.k

volunteer inshallah

One more - pay enough attention to worldly affairs, particularly in times of peace.

Assalamualikum.

Could you please tell in more detail what exactly this sentence means?

Is it immediate surroundings or the political situation of the world in whole -- or both?

In times of difficulty we remember Allah swt - our only support.
That is what we should do - remember Him in times of difficulty.
Yet we must continue to adopt the means to remove the difficulties from our path.
We have to use both spiritual method as well as material means to solve our problems.
If Allah swt so wills He might cure us without medicine.
The Prophetic way is to use medicine and make supplication.
Taking medicine is part of paying attention to worldly things.

essentially without the help of allah taala, removing allah taalas anger and perfecting our worship and relationship with allah taala we cannot expect our wordly situation to change.
no organisations,no wealth, no speech,no so called cleverness and strategy will be effective if adherence to quran and sunnah is not met.
when salah is left en masse, when purdah and haya is not observed.
when haram is accepted and fraud and lies are commonplace we will be trying to fill buckets with holes in them.
we have to fill the gaps and holes first, patch up our sorry communities and personal lives first whilst making effort in the wider community.
unfortunately even after bosnia can we honestly say the muslim community has rushed to the sunnah way of life, have the weddings become simplified, our homes and lifestyles rid of haram?
do we still anger allah taala or is allah taalas help with us?
