As salamualaykum, brothers.

This shaykh is very good and I have been concentrating on his seerah lectures and other stuff. I find his lectures very good.

But few days back I found this two videos and he is frequently citing his sources from Ibn Taymiyyah (R.A).

In the First video at around 4.33 , He also claims to follow the creed of Imam Ibn Taymiyyah.

So, Is this person safe and authentic to listen and follow his research or Is this person is in disguise a salafi. Can I consider Yasir Qadhi from ahlus sunnah (because of the deviant beliefs of ibn taymiyyah) ?

Shaykh Ul Islam Hafiz Ibn Taymiyya R.A is amongst ahlsunnah wal jammah and builds up upon the creedal stance of muhadithun. Hence even though scholars have differed with him on the way he states and approaches in explaining aqeeda but his guiding principles are sound and in accordance with sunni beliefs. Hence to follow Ibn Taymiyya R.A does not make one devient.

The explanation our Elders have been giving is the best and closest to the Islam brought by beloved Prophet (PBUH).

Yasir Qadhi was born into traditional Ahl-ul-Sunnah society and he took a flight in the Ibn Taimiyyah (RA) direction in a big way and then kept modulating himself, most probably as a result of interaction with traditional views, till he completed a full circle.

Now make a decision for yourself.

Shaykh Fawzan has mentioned in his biography of Shaykh bin Baz:
"That the following statement was presented to the people of knowledge, in which they showed great denial: "If we were not informed about the seal of prophethood, we would have said INDEED IBN TAYMIYYAH IS A PROPHET." But when Shaykh Fawzan presented it to Shaykh Bin Baz, he smiled and said THERE'S EVIDENCE FOR THIS! Then he mentioned the Hadith regarding 'Umar radhiyallahu ta'ala 'anh, if there was a Prophet after me (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ), it would have been 'Umar radhiyallahu 'anh .
We ask the pseudo-salafi shari'ah street police, what is their verdict, what is their crazy fatwa regarding this? If this was found in any of our books, and said about any of our scholars, then surely they would have accused us of "kufr", "bid'ah" and things even worse than that. We won't follow their crazy methodology, but we at least ask for clarification since these people accuse us of being extreme in praise of our scholars, such as calling Imam Abu Hanifah (rahmatullahi 'alayh) "Al-Imam Al-A'zam" etc.
We ask these pseudo-salafis;
- Do you consider Ibn Taymiyyah's knowledge to be on the level of prophets?
- Is he free from errors and mistakes like the prophets?
- Is this not exaggeration and extremism in praise?
- Why don't you say this about any of the imams of the salaf rather than somebody who came several hundreds of years later? Is he greater than the Imams of the salaf?
- Shaykh bin Baz tried to justify it using the hadith about Sayyidina 'Umar (radiyallahu 'anh) - do you consider Ibn Taymiyyah to be on the same level as him?
We'd like to hear your verdict regarding this, and if any pseudo-shari'ahstreet officer can answer we would appreciate it.
Here is the actual scan of the page with the statement (in case some of these "blind followers" are in denial):

For the record and I am putting this in writing.

I don't believe this! May have been a joke or something else but neither Shaykh Fawzan (HA) nor Shaykh Bin Baz (RA) are stupid!

No idea what the full quote and context of this discussion is and neither do I care to find out.

Plenty of Barelwee/Ahl-e-Hadeeth produce statements from our Akabir which make no sense most of the time...

As a rule I do not think we should even be quoting this Shaykh Yasir. His writings and videos are cringing.

Please elaborate on the 'cringe' bit?

Quite a bold/absurd comment to make.

Just over a 100 lectures which consist of an hour each on the seerah of Rasoolalah (saw) and now he has just started another series on Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه

Seerah of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) by Dr. Yasir Qadhi: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAEA99D24CA2F9A8F

Yes his fatawas should be avoided and no one is promoting that here, but his analysis and research is quite phenomenal and so is his speaking style and he has many top lectures.

So not sure where you got 'cringe', from, maybe it's because he's not a 'deobandi'?

Oops my bad

Jazakallahu Khair for pointing it out and my sincerest apologies to the brother above.

I'll have to say I agree with him then. His videos are usually full of people giggling in the background like girls, you call that an academic refutation? Then he challenge's others to bring proof and when they do their comments are blocked and censored and when they press for a reply the reply is they aren't even worthy of a reply or I have already replied which might be a line or two or no reply at all, Subhanallah.

Then come the fan boys, now don't get me started on them.

At least have some basic respect for your opponent who is not your enemy in Islam but your brother in Islam, sad to see a lot of resources and time spent in refuting a layman. What a joke.

Please maintain respect for each other and Ulamaa (if topic is about a scholar) by avoiding accusations and slanderous comments. Also remember that in order for criticism to be constructive, it must be channeled in the right direction. If there is any doubt in a matter, it is better to ask, clarify or to remain silent rather than to speak ill of another person.
