The posts by uncle muadh and brother abdur rahman make sense. However I still think that when people do not want to stay committed to a life on sunnah they look for excuses.

Lets say someone listens to shaikh tariq jameel sab db and changes his life, he then runs in to refutations of the respected shaikh. This may cause doubts about the shaikh. But why shave your beard and abandon sunnah. That is clear laziness in deen.

We would not let our dunya get destroyed so easily

I dont doubt that there are people who abandon deen due to weakness of others. I am sorry my posts do not show that i acknowledge this fact.

My reply was given in response to the dilemma presented by brother abdur rahman. He says someone spends his whole life in jahiliyyah, no one comes to him. He then changes his life and only sees the bickering amongst the ummah. So he decides to go back to his previous lifestyle.
On this occasion i felt that maybe the person.did not like what he heard but eventually just used it as an excuse.

Definitely, my opinion is that tabligh in the form of tablighi jamat is vital. Not that there is no other form of dawah out there, but i prefer this way.

Lol i like the deobandi analysis. Remember tablighi jamat is an effort from deoband.
They deal with a lot of the problems not mentioned on your list.

In a nutshell brother Muadh, can you tell the layman the implications of doing as he is doing and the dangers it has for his followers. He is a mufti, so he should know what he is doing and when the dangers arise, but what about the millions that follow him. Shouldn't he have any responsibility towards the laypeople?

Shouldn't he set a better example?

Salaf and earlier Muslims were people of Taqwa and practitioners of Sunnah., we are people who have trouble getting up for Fajar! With our Nafs and our slackness towards Sunnah and the position of Deobandi Ulama is safer and sound for Ulama (and laymen) alike.

I've noticed a great trend recently where laypeople hop on and hop off a school thinking they know it all. Then they mix the opinions of other schools and practice that where it suits them most, then jump back to the original school of thought.

This can be seen in many aspects of the deen.

Why is it dangerous?

A famous example given is, that suppose a person performs wudu, and thereafter gets cut on his finger which causes him to bleed.
According to the Hanafi 'Ulama, his wudu is broken, whereas according to the Shafi' 'Ulama his wudu is still intact. In order to avoid making wudu, he takes the Shafi' view on this matter.

This man then touches his wife with desire; according to the Shafi' opinion his wudu is broken, whereas according to the Hanafi school of thought his wudu is still perfect. Seeing that the Hanafi view is easier on this issue, he chooses to follow that school of thought.

He thereafter consumes camel meat which nullifies his wudu according to the Hanbali School. He finds that there is more ease in following the view of those who say that camel meat does not invalidate one's wudu and therefore chooses to follow their view.

Thereafter, he stands up to perform prayers. It is clear that according to the vast majority of Scholars his prayer will not be valid. His worship will be based more on human ego rather than Qur'an and Hadith and his entire deen will be unsystematic. It is precisely for this reason that Mawlana Ashraf 'Ali Thanwi (may Allah Ta'ala be pleased with him) stated, "Our deen is systemized through taqlid." (Ashraf al-Jawab, 161)

Hence, the prohibition of following one's ego is emphatically phobitied in the Qur'an and Hadith. By necessity, it will be prohibited to follow the concession of different scholars. Consider the following verses:

أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ أَفَأَنْتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا

Tell me about the one who has taken his desire as his god, would you then, become a guardian for him?(Al-Furqan 43)

Whether taqleed shakshi is wajib or not, in this day and age it is not an issue of opinion.

It is an issue of wisdom.

As the above 2 posts have said, to promote anything other than taqleed shaksi these days, where 99.9% of the people will jump at following the opinion that suits their nafs, is utter foolishness. It is nothing but the systematic destruction of deen.

How many times have we heard excuses like "there is scope for difference", "its a difference of opinion" "Taqleed shakshi is not wajib" used to justify people following their nafs.

It is essentially salafism on steroids. At least the salafis think they are following the quran and sunnah. These "scope for difference" people are simply following their nafs.

I am talking about lay people of course, the issue is more nuanced when it comes to ulema.

Mufti Menk of course generally stays aways from these issues anyway, and I think he is a great daee may the Almighty increase him, even if at times he does not seem to be following the hanafi opinion.

That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, however, many non deobandi ulama , both present day and throughout history, from various backgrounds and madhabs disagree.

What a bold claim to make. So many , many ulama of various backgrounds are not wise, are allowing utter foolishness and are systematically destroying the deen. It is clear that even Shah Waliullah did not agree with taqleed shaaksi and the way it is being made necessary for everyone. Purchase " shah Waliullah 's treatises on islamic law" translated by Marcia Hermansen and see for your self.it is translation of two of his works on the topic.

No problem with having your opinion on the issue, but stop ignoring the other valid opinions and insisting that only deobandis are correct , and this goes for many issues.
