A few ways of doing it. Use a normal tasbih in 1 hand and on the left hand use an electronic tasbih. That is probably the easiest way of doing it. The 1k tasbih is too big but 500 is usually ok.

There is actually a method using the fingers to count. It is quite different, had a urdu book on it but don't know if someone made an English one.

I am doing practice on it. This is really worth learning. May Allah Ta'ala gives Ilyas Ghuman Sahib Jaza e Khair, his way of explaining is great.

After every Salah I do few dhikr, I use my fingers.

Morning Evening Tasbeehat I use tasbeeh. While driving I use digital tasbeeh

Use two tasbeehs. One for current number of the tasbih and the other for the total number already completed in hundreds.

For example. in the right hand you are doing your dhikr with one tasbih. Suppose you have to do Allah Allah 1000 times. On the floor you have another tasbih in front of you. When you complete your first hundred, you set aside one bead in the second tasbih which is on floor. Then you count your second hundred, you count two in the second tasbih and so on and so forth.
