Quote:
Assalaamu Alaikum,

Allah azza wa Jal has created man's Rooh in Alaam-e-Amr command and his body in Alaam-e-khalq (created realm in stages)

Thereafter from the Alam-Khalq man's body was created from the four elements, Anaasir-e-Arbah (essential constituents) namely; Earth, Fire, Wind, Water. All these anaasir/elements have their own natural propensities e.g. Earth's natural propensity is being neglectful & darkness etc, Fire's is anger, love for fame etc, Wind's is lust & love of wealth etc and Water's natural propensity is desire to sleep, changes in mood too quickly etc.

Each human being, man or woman has a different ratio and percentage of each of the four elements in their being given by Allah azza wa jal, which along with two other factors viz-i-viz the individuals 1)tarbiya and 3)suhba they choose to keep, determines the individuals personality.

When that individual makes a firm resolve (Irada Haqeeqi) to systematically tread the path of coming closer to Allah Jalla jalallahu, and under the guidance of the Shaykh takes dhikr and is steadfast therein and in undertaking mujahaddah (striving and struggling) against the nafs in refraining from sins and obeying the commands of Allah and further embellishing their being wit the Noor of the Sunnah then these Anaasir-e-Arbah are shed just like the leaves of a tree in Autumn. Then according to which Mashrib Allah has created the individual's heart upon (i.e. Ibraheemi, Noohi, Musawi, Isawee or Muhammadi) the salik matures and blossoms into a wali of Allah and a true Ummati of Habibullah Salallahu alayh wassallam with his/her unique personality. So for example Hazrat Shaykh Professor Wajeeuhuddin Naqshbandi is Isawee Mashrib and has also adorned his outward and inward to perfection therefore his natural personality is to remain away from people and in solitude, speak very little and eat, sleep very little (many Mashaikh adopt this but do so as a mujahidda) those who are Isawee Mashrib have a natural inclination towards it. Allah has also granted him similar karamah. But again the condition here is that one adopts Dhikr Tahqeeqi (from a Shaykh) and not Taqleedi (from books or listening to a talk etc).

Now with the above in mind it will become very easy insha'Allah to understand the importance of taking guidance from a Shaykh of Tareeqah when it comes to doing specific Dhikr as each dhikr has its effect on the Anaasir and Lataaif of the individual. Some (Jalaali) are very hot adhkaar and as such and add heat to a person who may already have a high ratio of Fire in their Anaasir compisition. Therefore ONLY A SHAYKH-e-Kamil will know through the firaasa that Allah grants them and the blessings of the Tareeqah which dhikr and how much of it should be done.

May Allah forgive any fault in the above, for it is from myself and Shaitan. And any Khair and truth therein is from Allah and His Rasool salallahu alayhi wasallam and the teachings ouf our Shaykh and Murshid, May Allah keep his shadow over us and grant him a'fiya. Ameen. [upon the encouragement of dr76 sahib]

Wassallaam

So if one is experiencing heavy states whilst doing zikr the mashaykh recommend that one should switch to reciting abundance of Durood instead?

So if one who does not have a guide/shaykh and wants to engage in abundance of optional zikr, the shuyookh recommend durood and because it has no adverse side effects only blessings? and one can recite it in limitless amounts?

Depends on What is meant by 'heavy states' & what Zikr is being done..& what is the status of this Zakir..

[quote"Abdur rahman ibn Awf"]So if one who does not have a guide/shaykh and wants to engage in abundance of optional zikr, the shuyookh recommend durood and because it has no adverse side effects only blessings? and one can recite it in limitless amounts?

Istiqamah is the Key.. begin with little but be regular.. The Shuyookh recommend 500 Durood to those who does not have a shaikh.. this was the Practice of Hazrat Maulana Zubairul Hasan sahab Kandhelwi رحمة الله عليه and the rest of Mashaikh before him..

duas..

wa Assalam..

maybe i jinxed myself...(only joking, Allah se hota he)

i've started getting definite headaches while doing zikr. started after i acquired the habit of recting kalimah tayyibah with slight "darb" and "jahr".

now i can't completely get rid of this habit even though i do it a lot less. and my head pains very often.

i started wearing a loose topi, sometimes i even go bareheaded as well, but to no avail.

headaches come while doing any zikr with concentration, especially while reading Qur'an as hifz/dhor students do (mind fully focused, audibly with raised voice, etc.)

i tried to deny this problem saying "it's all in my head"...until i went for umrah. while i was in ihram, my head would get a severe, jolting pain every time i recited talbiyah. i'd have to recite it a few times then do some salawat then recite a few times...

any brothers have suggestions on how to get rid of this problem? i'm thinking of trying cupping but i don't know of any reliable hijama practitioner.
