Assalamu alaikum wr wb

Like a month before i went to see a alim/amil to talk about some problem.. and he told me that the reason of my problem is "tumko garmii chad gaye hai.. isliye aisa ho raha hai" (due to dhikr my head is getting heated) up and he gave me daleels like Hazrat Ashraf ali thanvi applying oil to head when writing tafseer and narrated a funny incident about a young tableegi guy who started to do dhikr in great numbers because the sathi's are saying like your wali and stuff like that.. Later he lost himself and started to beat every hindu guy saying "your going to hell and stuff like that" :) .. After treatment he got normal..

I have read in some tassawwuf books where some sufi used cool water to keep them cool!

i researched about it and found out different explanations like "thats your sins which are getting cleansed" and stuff like that..

the alim/amil guy suggested me to use hamdard badam oil and khas kas oil (Poppy seeds) :P .. the thing which make me laugh is before going to this alim i asked few interent AMILS and everyone have there take on the issue and everyone telling what he knows :D.. some say the lights you see in namaz are muwakkils :P and some says its the energy around you and some says nur of lataif :D.. to be honest i am not a guy who do heavy dhikr.. but started to do dhikr after this stuff started to happen with me on suggestion of internet amil but it doesn't solve the issue..

do you really think dhikr can generate heat upto a point that one can get mad!?

As far as I know, the answer is Yes: Dhikr does in fact generate heat. As for why and how, I have no clue.
I personally, however, have never experienced it, most likely because I dont do heavy dhikr.

I hope dr76 sees this thread.

I will await dr76's response. The general rule is that if heat is generated cool it with salawat. This is a proven method. Otherwise I am interested to know what zikr you do and who gave you this zikr. If it is DIY then I would advise you to stop and focus on salawat, surah ikhlas, quraan tilwat and sunnah azkaar from a book like hizbul azam. May ALLAH SWT bless you.

Assalamu Alaikum,
Brother do zikr, it will only do good to you. Allaah says "In the rememberance of Allaah do heart finds rests"
When you feel heat, drink cold water, like we do when we walk in sun, we feel heat. So there is nothing to worry.

When we feel wierd things after reading zikr or Quran, its most probably shaitaan wanting you to not read. So in that case you will have to read more.

It is in Quran(mostly) that Allaah says "tire yourself doing zikr.

I haven't taken any wazaif from any book nor from any Shaik. its third Kalma.. "Subhanallahe Wal Hamdulillahe Wa Laa ilaha illal Laho Wallahooakbar. Wala Haola Wala Quwwata illa billahil AliYil Azeem."

My First Dhikr : Was reading durood ibrahimi before this kalima..not much like 50-100 a day.. this carried on for few months
Next : i read third kalima like 100 times sometimes 200 times and 500 times sometimes.. i started to see this stuff

thats all.. Its still happening with me.. At Start i use to see ONLY when i am praying(faridh) .. even though i am praying with jammah .. Contacted People online on Facebook and talked with Noor Zaman on skype.. he and most people says its good but the stuff which triggering me is ...Noor zaman told me like "ache cheeze hai" and In Sha from now on it wont be visible but...if its good why its distrubing me in my salah bcoz you know good stuff wont distrub you.. you see shining blue color light and you look at it and its GONE.. this stuff is happening with me from like 7-8 months and the thing is now its happening randomly like when i visit new places or do dhikr or talk about deen.. it doesn't doing me any harm but sometimes i feel heavy when praying namaz and none of the amil i contacted told me that i have sihr, jinn or some sort of asrat

and the GOOD THING which happened to me with this is ,i was feeling i should follow ahle hadith and they are on right track but when i started googling about this problem i found article from a ahle hadith website saying people who are saying these kind of stuff are just hallucinating ... and they are quoting "Irshad Ul-Mulook" which is Maulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi book.. to be transparent here is the stuff

"It is mentioned in Irshaadul-Mulook, “Mukashafat – the sight of noorani (spiritual radiant) forms. By virtue of the purity of the heart and the effect of Dhikr and Shagl, sometimes, past, present and future episodes are revealed.”[1]"

“If during the course of the Dhikr, the Mureed experiences the vision of good or bad dreams, luminous lights, or a variety of colors, never should he pay slightest attention to these manifestations.”[6]

and after quoting this ahya.org(which is ahlehadith website) says like

"The Sufi experiences are nothing but hallucinations and imaginations. They experience in their venerable state that which the Sufi Shaikhs have already programmed them to experience."

this made me think ahle hadith people are just trying to push others on what they think is right :)

So you derived it from your own thinking and not from any authentic books of Shaykh etc.

Asa,

Indeed when one is not accustomd to zikr e kaseer for sometime then feeling heated and loosing sleep, i call this feeling "burnt out" , can happen. This is where one should realize that for this path a guide is essential.

For now along with other good suggestions given here i would share another and if you are hell bent on continuing with zikr e kaseer then inshaAllah give this a try.

The method is given by mashaikh and that is to do zikr WITHOUT moving your tongue at all. You only say the zikr from your heart alone. With absolute no movement from your mouth ,no uttering of the zikr, only letting your heart say it. This doesnt have to be muraqaba, rather just doing the zikr from/in your heart.

The movement of tongue and breathing associated with it usually creates the burnt out feeling when done in thousands.

Also the zikr with only heart actually has many great spiritual benefits and if you are persistent and consistent you will get accustomed to hearing zikr inside your self, after having done this for a while and alot.

My son once asked me about Dhikr in the heart because he was told that Qur'an should be read with the movement of the lips, otherwise it wasn't counted as a proper recital, allahu alum. Many people open the Qur'an and read with their eyes only, i.e.read with their heart, but have been taught that it's not the same. Any suggestions or Daleel for either would be very helpful.

I developed a habit of reciting all zikr silently in the heart, had an illness from years back were it was difficult to maintain taharah, at the time I read that one should not do Zikr with tongue in impure clothes, so started doing in the heart and it has become habitual.

Perhaps DR76 could clarify these rules of loud and silent zikr and their effects.

I know for the reading of Qur'an to be counted as "Qirat/Tilawat" (Recital) the use and movement of lips and tounge is important. That's why one should recite in Salah in such a voice, that one can hear one own's voice to basically ensure that one is acutally uttering the Ayat and Takbirat.
