An Impression of Shaikh Musa as-Sharief
The Shaikh sits in Saudi Arabia.
It has implications for what he can and what he can not speak.
A colleague of mine went to Libya, decades ago in the Qaddhafi era.
At the entery point the customs officer enquired about the boo he was carrying - Diwan-e-Ghalib ( Collected Poetry of Ghalib, an Urdu poet).
Is it a political book?
The message is loud and clear, you can not even take a book inside these countries.
Democracy has spoiled us in places like India. Or even UK and US and the Europe.
Come back to Shaikh Musa.
Clearly he can not speak all that can be said about the characters he has chosen to speak about.
The result is that his lectures are very impressionistic.
Yet I am glad that he is doing such courses in that land.
