Knowledge of the Seerah of Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam is of utmost importance; this goes without saying. But along with that, one should also have knowledge about his family, his wives, his children, etc.
I do not think I would be exaggerating if I said that the majority of people will not be able to tell you just the names of the wives and daughters of Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam, let alone anything about them.
In attempting to remedy this, approximately a year ago, I wrote a Kitaab on the lives of the wives and daughters of Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam, in concise form, and named it "Sayyidaat-ul-Jannah" (The Queens of Jannah).
Every point mentioned in the Kitaab is backed up with references from the authentic Kutub of Taareekh (history), as can be seen in the footnotes provided. Hence, one can be sure of the authenticity of the content when learning and if intending to quote from it.
A very important habit we need to acquire is to always provide reference for what we quote, as far as possible, not only when it comes to Ahaadeeth but when quoting stories as well.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
