A story related to this was narrated by a scholar here in India.

Years back an Europen Hijabi sister was to deliver a lecture among Aligarh university ladies. She was booed for wearing the hijab because they assumed it comes in the way of progress. The sister said "She lives in Europe and nothing stopped her from progressing then why should it be here in india. You are grabbing what we had thrown from our lives"

How about this :)

www.muftisays.com/blog/Seifeddine-M/2707_17-03-2012/the-a...

One of the Tabi'i Imam Ata ibn Abi Rabah (رضى الله عنه) said: "A young man would tell me something that I may have heard before he was born. Nevertheless, I listen to him as if I had never heard it before."

Sub-han Allah.

I was becoming impatient with such people but attitude of the Imam (RA) is just pristine.

Brother Abu Muhammad gave a link in post number 2 to a previous thread where this story is mentioned, the wording is slightly different..The Niqaabi sister stopped putting her grocery in the bag and lifted up her Niqaab. I presume it means she gave a quick and discrete peak to the Checkout girl, as to her identity, and Allah knows best.

It was the following stement that captured my attention: "You born Muslims sold your Deen and we bought it from you!"

I think what she's trying to say is she removed it in a public place.

Colour of eyes, skin can be seen without removing nikab. Also her hair was blonde? Did she remove hijab from her hair?

Great article, I think it's been adapted with time, from what I remember it is quite an old article. Allah knows best.

Fair enough sister, valid point.

I take back my comments even though the the veil can expose the eyes, skin colour and hair colour (eyebrows/lashes) as well as cover them.

She could still lift the veil without lifting the veil or Hijab :)

I don't think this story requires much scrutiny.
Alhamdullillah the message is clear.

Wearing niqab is a respectable thing,
Even wearing a hijab without a face covering should be good enough, many of our sisters struggle with wearing hijab how will they wear niqab, ALLAH make it easy in the end we all on our own personal journey.
In fiqh itself the face and hands are not awrah according to some schools however, due to fitnah the niqab is made obligatory by some and recommended by qadhi iyadh al maliki.
I also concur it was very wrong for the arab girl to point out the french girls niqab.
