Wise words of Hazrat Luqman (AlayhisSalam)

Someone came to Hazrat Luqman Hakeem and asked "from where have you become so Wise?" He replied, "from thoseyou were naive". (ie he took lesson from the naive). Based on this, Luqman AlayhisSalaam became very well known for his wise words and wiseful ways. Below are some of the wise words of Luqman AlayhisSalam. 

  • Know Allah
  • whatever advice you give to others, first practice upon it yourself
  • talk at your own level
  • be conciderate when doing a census. 
  • Know the rights of other people
  • dont share your secrets with anyone
  • Test your friends at your time of trouble and need
  • avoid making friends with the foolish and naive
  • respect your friends
  • take your mother and father as the most precious gift
  • take your teacher as the best father figure
  • be moderate when making decisions 
  • watch your income when spending
  • Keep the tongue under control
  • keep the clothes and body clean
  • If possible learn horse riding and the arts of a bow and arrow

Assess a person and then deal with him
keep a habit of:
Eating less
Sleeping less and
Talking less
whatever you dislike for yourself, dislike for others
work with intelligance and forward planning
Dont teach without learning
dont look at the wealth of others
Dont be careless in regards to any types of work
Dont think of a job undone as a job done

Domt leave todays work for tomorrow
Dont hold long conversations infront of your elders
Dont make people who are needy feel hopeless
Dont remind others of previous fights or arguments
Dont openly show your wealth whether it be a friend or foe
Dont backbite about pious people
Dont belittle people by embarrasing them in public
Dont indicate things with your eyes

" كَانَ لُقْمَانُ عَبْدًا حَبَشِيًّا نَجَّارًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: اذْبَحْ لِي شَاةً، فَذَبَحَ لَهُ شَاةً، فَقَالَ لَهُ: ائْتِنِي بِأَطْيَبِ مُضْغَتَيْنِ فِيهَا، فَأَتَاهُ بِاللِّسَانِ وَالْقَلْبِ، فَقَالَ: أَمَا كَانَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ أَطْيَبُ مِنْ هَذَيْنِ؟ قَالَ: لَا، فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ: اذْبَحْ شَاةً؛ فَذَبَحَ لَهُ شَاةً، فَقَالَ لَهُ: أَلْقِ أَخْبَثَهُمَا مُضْغَتَيْنِ، فَرَمَى بِاللِّسَانِ وَالْقَلْبِ، فَقَالَ: أَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي بِأَطْيَبِهِمَا مُضْغَتَيْنِ، فَأَتَيْتَنِي بِاللِّسَانِ وَالْقَلْبِ؟ وَأَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تُلْقِيَ أَخْبَثَهُمَا مُضْغَتَيْنِ، فَأَلْقَيْتَ اللِّسَانَ وَالْقَلْبَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ بِأَطْيَبَ مِنْهُمَا إِذَا طَابَا، وَلَا أَخْبَثَ مِنْهُمَا إِذَا خَبُثَا
