Shaykh Sa'di (رحمه الله) narrates: Shaykh Shibli (رحمه الله) once purchased some barley and returned home carrying it on his head in a sealed cloth. After a short while, he opened it and noticed an ant running out. To the Shaykh (رحمه الله) the ant appeared anxious as it dashed around uneasily.

Shaykh Shibli (رحمه الله) was saddened at its pitiful condition and began to ponder, "Where could it have come from? Surely it must be restless and fearful due to seperation from its abode."

Shaykh (رحمه الله) spent the night tossing and turning, unable to sleep. The next morning, he picked up the cloth, fastened it and set out towards the city. After arriving at the shop where he had purchased the barley, he opened the cloth and set the ant free.

The close servants of Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى) meticulously guard against causing any sort of harm to the creation.

In days gone by, men were saddened at the anxiety of an ant. Today, man has sunk into such an abyss of destruction that such heinous crimes as abortion are justified by so-called progressive governments of the world.
[Pealrs from the Path, volume 3]

Not to mention the rampant killing and injustice widespread in the World today!
