Asslamo Allaikum Maulana Yaseen (HA),
Please correct me as I believe that Imam Al-Adham Abu Haneefa (RA) didn't even have a daughter.

As indicated by Maulana Shamli.

W-salam,
I also understand that he had no daughters.

Asslamo Allaikum Aapa,
Its a pretty rude story anyways. In Dawah you can say.
1) Allah (SWT) has given permission for a man to take multiple wives but NOT OBLIGATED.
2) If a woman decides to marry a man with an existing wife and the matter is agreed between them then what's the problem? They are Adults and they have considered the matter and decided. Typical Western mind places such importance on sexuality that it views this matter in the light of sexuality when in actual fact this is about "taking care of women" and being responsible i.e. a man has to provide for her, take care of her etc and sexuality is the least of the matter.
3) In contemporay Western society a man sleeps around or gets a Mistress despite having a wife and he is thought to be a "player" but when he takes a 2nd wife gives his respect vows to take care of her, tries his best to look after her he gets condemned! Which method is fair for a woman? Being a mistress and being played around with or being taken a 2nd wife?
Ask any woman with a fair mind?
4) If the 2nd wife is not being taken care of she HAS THE RIGHT to apply and get her marraige annuled.
All in all this shows BEAUTY of ISLAM.
Practically less then 1% of Muslim men either sleep around (illegally) or take a 2nd wife (Islamically legall) i.e. 99% of them have one wife and remain faithful to her.
While 1 in 4 Western men CHEAT at some point in their life.
So he is living a moral and upright life? Muslim men or Western men?
Which is better and fairer system? Islam which gives women rights and protects them legally and gives her legal rights to get out of this marriage OR Western law which relegates her to a Mistress and she simply gets toyed with, and has no rights BEFORE, DURING and AFTER being a Mistress?
In Islam no man is OBLIGATED to have a 2nd wife.
In Islam no woman is OBLIGATED to become a 2nd wife.
Islam treats them like Adults and gives them choice but when the woman makes that choice her rights are protected and when she sees that she is not being taken care of and man is not being responsible, she can get the marriage annuled.

W-Salam,
I had a very interesting conversation with Ulama in Yorkshire because "Halala" has never made any sense to me i.e. why does the women get punished for husband's mistake?
The matter was clarified by Ulama-e-Kiraam and it is exactly how you have explained.
Jazakullah Khairun
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
