BISMILLAHIR REHMANIR RAHEEM

Asalam o alaikum warehmatullahi wa barkatuhu!

So what actually is sin? In Islamic literacy sin is all those actions which are forbidden and yet a person commits it. In other words sin is something which fulfil your own wishes against the commands of your Allah.

Every human except the messengers of Allah have committed sins big or small. after all human is known as a repository of harmful wishes with a strong defense system against those wishes. But unfortunately we ourselves switch off our defense system, sometimes by giving a reason which is called wisodm in some matters. And yet in other matters as the demand of present time.

And then there are time when one knows that commitiing this particular act is dreadfully sinful, but unfortunately they disable their system by saying Allah is Ghaffoor ur Raheem. and sometimes they reason with themselves by saying we will ask forgiveness later on. and yet sometimes they reason the sin as small. and last but not the least they reason this particular sin as being helpless in those matters.

first of all before I plunge into more depth I would like to write down a sumary of a hadith qudsi ; Allah says " When a person commits a sin, he hides his sin from everyone, but he doesnt hide his sin for me, am I more contemptible than humans?"

The meaning of this hadith qudsi is that a person may hide his sin from everyone but he is unable to hide his sin from Allah for Allah is present everywhere, and he knows that too! yet he still commits the sin! so Allah asks that person whether he thinks of his Allah as more dispecible than other humans?

To think of a sin as small and harmless is yet a sin in itself and its a greater sin to think of a sin small and harmless.

Awam Bin Hoshab states :

"After committng sin 4 things are more dangerous than the committed sin

  1. To think of the committed sin as small.

  2. To be shameless on the sin

  3. To be happy on the committed sin

  4. To be steadfast in committing it without neglect"

Isn't it said that drop drop become a pouring rain? so if a person thinks of a sin as small and keeps committing it sooner or later those sins will accumalate and build up.

And then Allah (s.t) narrates in the Holy Quran:

"O man! what has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous?"

My teacher (may Allah shower blessings on him) stated under this verse, that people commit sins and state that Allah is Ghaffoor ur Raheem He will forgive our sins, but Allah states in Quran what is that thing that have put you in deception that Allah is Ghafoor for those hwo keep on committing sin? Allah is indeed ghafoor for those who repent with true heart and try their full to be steadfast on their repentance.

And then last but not at all the least, no sins become halal or permissible by the change of time... and how is that? well because our Prophet (s.a.w) is the last Prophet and he (s.a.w) have defined all rules and regulations which will remain unchanged till he day of Judgement and why is that? its because there will be no Holy Book aftr Holy Quran no Prophet after Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), so how can you declare that you got to walk with the present time, when none of the ruling will change ever?

And then there is no one who is helpless in committing a sin! You become helpless only when you yourself want to become helpless! A momin is one who find himselves helpless in abiding with people who commit sins! a momin is not the one who commits the sin with other and calls himself helpless! because Allah didnot create anyone helpless ! if this would have been the case than Allah forbid you are declaring that Allah is injust for He made you helpless because of which you are committing a sin and then you are being promised to be punished for the committed sin! thnik again my muslims brothers and sisters! before you commit a sin do remember even if you close all the doors and lower the curtain down still Allah is watching you! where can you run away? And when you will always keep in mind that every moment evry minute Allah is watching you and two angels are sitting on your shoulder writing evey word ! than InshAllah you will never ever have the courage to commit a sin!

Allah states :"But verily over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind). Kiraman Katibeen writting down your deeds. They know all that you do!!"

And once Hazrat Thanwi (rahimullahi tallah) stated that if you want to know what sin is encouraged by satan and nafs, the difference is , that satan will reason with you in encouraging in committing a sin by detailing infront of you the benefits of religion and the benefits of worldly matters in this sin. While the nafs will encourage you to commit a sin just to fulfill your desire without any benefit of world or religion!"

May Allah save us from committing sin every minute of life !!! Ameen summa Ameen!

Wassalam!!!!!!!
