This thread will be dedicated to short explanations to surah from the 30th Juz of the Quran insha'Allah.
(Surah 103)-Surahtul 'Asr
The Time
1. (I swear)by the time, 2. Man is in a state of loss indeed 3. Except those who believed and did righteous deeds, and exhorted each other to (follow) truth and exhorted each other to (observe) patience. This Surah is a Madni Surah
Despite the short length of this surah, this surah has such a vast meaning. The word 'Asr means time. Time is such that a person in this world can be use it wisely to do good deeds and waste it to do bad deeds. It is ultimately up to us (the inhabitants of the world) how we use our time.
Allah has sworn by the time as verily it is time that we do our deeds and that our whole life evolves around. It is time that can be used to help us on the day of judgement and it is that same time that can be against us.
Day by day time slips away through our very own fingers. We do not know when our life will come to an end. We should live everyday as it is our very last, as who knows tomorrow may never come. Many a time we find people delaying their compulsory acts of worship, delaying doing good and righteous deeds. It is as if we have made this world our eternal abode. We feel that we are here to stay forever. As the servants of Allah there is a vital need to constantly remind ourselves we are mere travellers in this world and that our final destination is yet to come. We need to decide where we are travelling to and chose our route quickly. Let it be that we all chose the path of jannah and become familiar with it's route rather than get lost and fall victims to the path of jahannam.
We need to remind one another that our time in this world is limited. We need to stop ourselves from wasting time as every person in this world is at loss for not using their time wisely. There are some who are exempt from this and so we should try and be like these people. These people are those with the following qualities:
Those who believed. Those do acts with piety. Those who exhort others to follow truth (meaning they enjoin the good and forbid the evil). Those who try and stop themselves from committing sins. Those who observe patience and recommend others to do the same. (It also includes those who observe patience when faced with a calamity). Those who constantly carry out their deeni obligations.
Allah through is infinite mercy has explicitly told us in this Surah abour those people who are using their time well; those who are not at lost. Let it be that we take heed of this and not ignore it. Let it be that we too urge to have the qualities of those like mentioned above. Let it be that our journey it to jannah and our time is used well. Let it be that we realise that our stay in this world is short and time is running out before it is too late.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
