I just quickly wanted to ask if chatting online to a person from the opposite gender was wrong in Islam?

No it is not right nor permissible for any reason to chat online to the opposite gender (non-Mahrams) as it is a huge private door to greater sins.

i use MSN Messenger to communicate with my husband as he is not living with me coz he got refusal to enter UK until the tribunal comes through we use MSN we talk 2 times a week. Is this also a Sin?

I do apologize, i've updated my previous post. Off course the opposite gender in cases of chatting etc only refers to non-Mahrams.

As for the "preaching hatred" you have mentioned in the other thread not once have i come across anything like that on this site or from any other moulana i know.
