Someone once asked Nabi ﷺ that what is the reward for the one who fights for the sake of fame? Nabi ﷺ responded that there is no reward for him. The questioner was shocked at this response. How can a person work so hard in the path of Allah, yet receive no reward for his efforts?

Dumbfounded, the questioner repeated his question only the receive the same reply. He repeated once more, only to receive the same reply. But this time, Nabi ﷺ shared the reason why his efforts were futile. Nabi ﷺ added that Allah accepts only those deeds which are meant purely for His sake. This highlights the key ingredient to qubooliyah/divine acceptance - Sincerity. With sincerity, every deed becomes great but without it, even great deeds become small.

May Allah grant us sincerity, Aameen.
