Opinions of Fuqaha- strongest or weakest or your choice?

Salam

In a Madhab does one have to follow the strongest opinion or is one open to choose any opinion from the Madhab even if it may be weak?

Are the rules the same for all 4 madhabs??

Even to compare different opinions within one Madhhab requires some level of Ijtihad. So, the safest way for us is to follow whatever an experienced and relied upon Mufti of our choice suggests.

The Mufti decides which one suites me. It could be a weak or strong opinion. So I shall leave the mufti to decide.

Plenty of threads discouraging this completely unless you are a mujtahid.

mix it up and your actions are not accepted from any school, hence it becomes null and void.

My query in the first post actually looks quite silly after I gave it some thought. I was just trying to think aloud from another persons perspective.

Truth is its for the mufti/qualified scholar to weigh up the opinions and most if I'm correct do stick to the consensus and strongest opinion available in that madhab.

Otherwise, as stated by Muadh Bhai, laymen do not have the discretion nor the ability to declare a certain position of a madhab to be "stronger" than another. We merely parrot what our `ulamaa say if the need arises.

In any case, I think bhai True Life has sufficiently answered the OP. That is, stick to your relied upon mufti/muftiyaan.

On a related note, the following du`aa is good to recite:

Allaahumma arinal haqqa haqqan warzuqnat-tibaa`ah, wa arinal baatila baatilan wa`rzuqnajtinaabah.
Translation: Oh Allah! Show us the truth as the truth and let us follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood and save us from it.

I think Maulana asked a rhetorical question. Many people don't even know what they mean when they say they follow the strongest opinion. It's just a fashion statement if you ask me. :)

I consult a mufti who is moderate. Not the ones who are very lenient or highest in tagwa (normally they offer fatwah which is difficult to practice although a lesser option is available). I don't that the most difficult fatwah for practice is linked to tagwah.

This topic is a result of Salafi influence.

The terminologies used and the questions posed with the personal opinions of individuals to form a solution for a non-existent problem is so contradictory to itself that it begs to be asked whether such discussions cause more harm than good.

My question "what is 'strongest opinion'" was just to demonstrate that even a simple question like this caused confusion amongst the members and we got answers trying to guess, assume or simply portray their own understanding of the answer. Noting that the question was actually about the key element of this topic, maybe we should conclude here that this is not suitable for forums and anyone concerned should consult a scholar directly or through someone. Online is a different world where one should not make life decisions.
