By doing the right things, you gain his love, metaphorically speaking.

By doing the wrong things, you gain his wrath!

No it's not about what you gain or not gain, let me rephrase, say someones lost there way in Deen, but the connection with Allah isn't as it should be. How does this person find Allahs love to strengthen the connection, it's not an outer action I.e. Salah, haj, charity etc. It's the internal heart connection.

By the way I'm asking because I think I've only just found the answer after a couple of weeks of pondering, be interesting to see if others come up with same answer, or anything that I've not considered.

Just to clarify, that's not what I was trying to say or implying. In fact I'm not answering that question at all.

Allahu alum.

Any takes on 'looking for Allahs love' bearing in mind 'batini' is the spiritual side of a person, and 'zahiri' is the outward actions, I.e. Salah, haj, etc.

Were looking at the inward spiritual side here.

Isn't there a saying that goes something like we Muslims shouldn't delve into the the 'zaat' of Allah rabbul izzat ?

Does this question fall into this category?

JazakAllah brother for the reminder, was looking for 'recognition of Allah' as we can only love and follow Allah if we recognize and understand Him. Either through his attributes (99 names), making a connection with Allah through talks, through everything we see around us, etc, and recognizing Allah's work in everything we see and do, InshaAllah.

By no means was it intended to question the zaat of Allah swt.

I'm beginning to understand the statement I think.

We love Allah, no doubt!
Allah loves us, even the non believers!

So when we feel that Allah doesn't love us/me, it doesn't meant Allah can't make us love him. It simply means that that we have given into the whispers of the devil and he has blinded us from Allah's love.

If we can over power our nafs, we will feel Allah's love yet if we let our faith decrease and allow shaitan to play with our mind, its practically game over (metaphor). We need to constantly be aware of Allah and always remind ourselves that Allah is watching us.

Don't let shaitan get the upper hand, don't feed the nafs, feed the soul.

When we get upset, angry, or feel down, we should still be positive about Allah because at the end of the day, its shaitan who is trying totake us away from Allah.

The good thing is that this is proof that we have Iman and shaitan will only knock on our door to invite us to his party. If we accept, we fail. If we decline, the invitation will become stronger.

Just be strong and ignore shaitan when he rings your bell. Tell him there's no space for him.

Have a read through the link above.

Isn't the nafs and shaytan two separate entities? If the nafs is looking for Allahs love, wouldnt it be shaytans whisperings that are causing a person confusion?

Or...is it a person's weakness in knowledge of deen/allahs greatness/abilities that need to be improved upon?

allah subhanahu wata'ala can do each and everything...

we cannot comprehend this due to our own limits and weakness.

Quote:
looking for Allahs love

If we are close to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, it is to test our resilience. Are we only close to Allah سبحانه وتعالى in times of ease, or does our trust extend to the times of hardship? When we are tested, do we leave the good deeds that we used to do? Allah سبحانه وتعالى describes such people in the following verse:

"And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss." [Qur'an, 22:11]

This may seem counter-intuitive, but tests are also out of Allah's love. The Prophet ﷺ said, "When Allah loves a servant, He tests him," [Tirmidhi]. In a hadith qudsi (a hadith relating the words of Allah [swt]), Allah سبحانه وتعالى tells Jibreel to delay the response to the du`a' of a servant because Allah سبحانه وتعالى loves hearing his voice [Tabarani]. Sometimes the answer to a test is that need for Allah سبحانه وتعالى, those long hours spent in the night, and the tears of sincerity.

May Allah سبحانه وتعالى make us of those who constantly turn to Him, in hardship and ease.

Question:

I've read articles on how to love Allah (SWT). But how can one feel Allah (SWT)'s love. I want to feel loved by Allah (SWT). I want to feel His love for me, the love even greater than parents love for their children. How do I go about feeling it? I know of His mercy and I love him for it, but how do I feel his love for me? Does Allah (SWT) love all Muslims (even people with lots of major sins)?

Answer:

Wa`alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

Hadith Qudsi 15:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah the Almighty said: 'I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed."

It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah)

Also:

Hadith Qudsi 24:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"If Allah has loved a servant [of His], He calls Gabriel (on whom be peace) and says: 'I love So-and-so, therefore love him.'" He (the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "So Gabriel loves him. Then he (Gabriel) calls out in heaven, saying: 'Allah loves So-and-so, therefore love him.' And the inhabitants of heaven love him." He (the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then acceptance is established for him on earth. And if Allah has abhorred a servant [of His], He calls Gabriel and says: 'I abhor So-and-so, therefore abhor him.' So Gabriel abhors him. Then Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven: 'Allah abhors So-and-so, therefore abhor him.'" He (the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "So they abhor him, and abhorrence is established for him on earth."

It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, Malik, and at-Tirmidhi).

And finally:

Hadith Qudsi 25:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said:

'Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him.'"

It was related by al-Bukhari.

Wassalam,

According to one hadith qudsi, Allah says:
"I am with my servant as long as he
remembers Me."
WE need Allah, Allah doesn't need us to love him.
