Ibn Bunan al-Asbahani (رحمه الله) says: I once saw Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in a dream and asked, "O Nabi of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), have you given any special honour to Muhammad Ibn Idrees ash-Shafi'ee (رحمه الله)?"

Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, "Yes, I have asked Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى) to excuse him from reckoning on the Day of Qiyamah."

I asked, "What was the reason for this?"

Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, "He recited a unique durood upon me."

I asked, "What durood did he recite?"

Nabi (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asnwered, "He would say,



'O Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى), bestow Your mercy and blessings upon Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) whenever he is remembered, and bestow Your mercy and blessings upon Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) whenever he is not remembered.'"

Allaahumma sallee 'alaa nabiyyinaa muhammadin kullamaa dhakarahudh-dhaakiroon, wa kullamaa ghafala 'an dhikrihil-ghaafiloon

Asslamo Allaikum,

This beautiful Durood is written by our noble and beloved Imam Ash-Shaf'ae (RA) in his Kitaabul-Risaalah and here it is:

صلَّى الله على نبيِّنا مُحَمَّدٍ كلَّما ذَكَرَهُ الذَّاكِرُونَ

وغَفَل عن ذِكْرِهِ الغافِلُونَ

. وصلَّى الله عليه في الأوَّلين والآخرين

، أفضلَ وأكثرَ وأزكى ما صلَّى على أَحَدٍ من خَلْقِـهِ

. وزكَّانا وإيَّاكم بالصَّلاة عليه

، أفضلَ ما زكَّى أحدًا من أُمَّتِهِ بصلاته عليه

. والسَّلام عليه ورحمةُ الله وبركاته

Imam Ahmad's رحمه الله Respect For Imam Shafi'ee رحمه الله


Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal رحمه الله says:

"I haven't slept for the last 30 years without having supplicated for Imam Shafi'ee and seeking forgiveness for him."

'Abdullah رحمه الله, the son of Imam Ahmad رحمه الله says:

"I asked my father, 'What type of person was Imam Shafi'ee? For I hear you supplicating a lot for him.' He replied, 'O son! Imam Shafi'ee was like the sun to this world, and like health for the people. Now tell me, is there anything that can take the place of these two? Can they be replaced?'"
