'The Beauty of Oneness'
Any eye filled with the vision of this world
cannot see the attributes of the Hereafter,
Any eye filled with the attributes of the Hereafter
would be deprived of the Beauty (Jamal) of (Divine) Oneness.

Never consider sin to be small. Regard sin as great. He who thinks slightly of sin has considered Allah to be insignificant. -Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi

Awza`i said, '`Umar ibn `Abd al-`Aziz wrote to us, 'Whoever is frequent in remembering death is content with but a little of this world. And whoever counts his speech from his actions speaks little except in that which benefits him.'' [Mulla Ali al-Qari, Mirqat al-Mafatih, 8: 585 #4840]

"When your heart becomes the grave of your secrets, that desire of yours will be gained more quickly. The prophet said that anyone who keeps secret his inmost thought will soon attain the object of his desire. When seeds are buried in the earth, their inward secrets become the flourishing garden."

If the first inward thought is not warded off,
it will generate a desire,
then the desire will generate a wish,
and the wish will generate an intention,
and the intention will generate the action,
and the action will result in ruin and divine wrath.

So evil must be cut off at its root,
which is when it is simply a thought that crosses the mind,
from which all the other things follow on.

Imam Al-Ghazzali ('Ihyaa Uloom al-Deen', 6/17)

Lovers of fine raiment and garb! Forget not that one day you will wear the shroud of the grave;

Lovers of palaces and lofty mansions forget not that ditch where you will ultimately lie;

Lovers of fine food and drink forget not that you are to become the food of worms and maggots.

[Uthman (r.a)]

Do not let your difficulties fill you with anxiety; after all, it is only in the darkest nights that the stars shine more brilliantly.

If you have no eyes, do not walk blindly;
take a staff in your hand.
If you have no staff of insight,
do not walk without a guide.
