The source of every disobedience, indifference, and passion is self satisfaction.

The source of every obedience, vigilance, and virtue is dissatisfaction with one's self.

It is better for you to keep company with an ignorant man dissatisfied with himself
than to keep company with a learned man satisfied with himself.

For what knowledge is there in a self-satisfied scholar?

And what ignorance is there in an unlearned man dissatisfied with himself?

He who has hope has everything.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could forget our troubles

as quickly as we forget our blessings?

Thinking well is wise,

planning well is wiser,

but doing well is wisest.

A child that is allowed to be disrespectful

to his parents will not have true respect

for anyone.

If you want to get a true estimate of a

man, observe what he does when he has

nothing to do.

Reputation is precious;

character is priceless.

To be humble is to accept the truth and submit to it even if you hear it from a child or someone who is uneducated or ignorant. [Fudhayl ibn Iyaadh]

Explain what you must, but never give away all your secrets.

A secret is a power only as long as it stays with its owner,

but is a weapon that may be used against its owner if it passes into the hands of others.

"Don't seek anything other than contentment, because therein is the bliss and the comfort of your body. Then consider the case of a person who possesses the whole world, can he take with him in the grave more than cotton and a shroud?"

Speech is like a medicine,
a small dose of which cures but an excess of which kills.
