Narrated from Jundub رضي الله عنه that he said, "I advice you with the taqwa of Allah and I advice you with the Qur'an for truly it is a light by the dark night and a guidance by the day - act upon it in difficulty and in poverty. If a calamity befalls, sacrifice your wealth instead of your Deen (religion) and if the calamity intensifies, then sacrifice your wealth and your life instead of your Deen for surely the ruined one is he whose religion is ruined and the deprived is he who has been deprived of his Deen. Know that there is no poverty after entering Paradise and no prosperity after entering Hellfire."

'Abdullah Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه was once asked, "Who do you think is better: a man who has few (good) deeds and few sins or a man who has many (good) deeds and many sins?" He replied, "There is nothing like being safe." ['al-Zuhd', by Ibn al-Mubarak]

"The one who talks a lot, only waits for Fitnah (tribulation) to occur, whilst the one who is silent waits for Mercy to descend." - Yazid ibn Abi Habib

Lowering the gaze results in Noor accumulating in the heart; casting lustful gazes destroys whatever Noor is in the heart, and the person places himself under the curse of Allah Ta'ala.

PATIENCE is a great value.
We should learn from the Sun and the Moon...Both patiently wait for their turn and each gets its chance to shine.

To work hard in acquiring knowledge is in your control, but to preserve that knowledge is not. Allah سبحانه وتعالى looks at how hard you try and rewards you accordingly.

The caliph Sulaymaan ibn 'Abd al-Malik rebuked someone who had spread nameemah (malicious gossip) about him, in the presence of al-Zuhri. The man denied it and Sulaymaan said to him, "The one who told me about it is one who does not tell lies." Al-Zuhri said: "The one who spreads nameemah cannot be truthful." Sulaymaan said, "You are right," and he let the man go

Shaykh Ibn Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,

"Indeed when a person faces calamities with patience [but] without hoping for a reward from Allaah, the calamity will become an expiation for his sins. And if he shows patience along with hoping for a reward [from Allaah], then along with being an expiation for his sins it becomes a good recompense and reward. And the meaning of hoping for Allaah's reward [al-Ihtisaab] is that a person believes that he will soon be rewarded for the patience [he is showing], so he makes good his thoughts about Allaah and thus Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, will give him [a reward] according to what he thought of Him."

Now if that doesn't put a smile on your face, I don't know what will! We are far too quick to forget about His mercy. When does anything ever turn out to be against us?

Think positively of Allah, instead of expecting something bad to happen or for calamities to strike you, put your hope in your Lord and trust that He will be kind to you and set your affairs straight. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "Allah says: 'I am as My slave expects Me to be, and I am with him when he supplicates (makes dua) to me.'" (Bukhari)

Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said: "Dua is one of the most beneficial of remedies. It is the enemy of calamity, as it wards it off, remedies it, prevents it befalling, alleviates it or reduces it if it befalls. Dua is the weapon of the believer." (al-Jawaab al-Kaafi)
