Past is past...
If you want happiness,
Don't walk together with your past.
The past is just a lesson.
You can look back at it,
But NEVER bring it back!
You are seeking the treasures of the heavens and the earth, you are seeking companionship of the most high, you are seeking to be the beloved of the beloved (Muhammad sal-Allahu alayhi wa salam). The sahabah's were a handful out of the masses, but they were raised with and lived with and died with the light of islam. These few individuals shook the foundations of the earth, bringing justice, truth and honesty to the masses, they understood each other, Allah and his beloved loved them and because of their striving, gave them victory in this world and the next. Every sect says it follows Quran and sunnah, but seldom do. It's just like when a non believer says what is the ultimate truth we reply, Allah!, so seek the truth from him and he will guide you. Likewise those who seek the ultimate truth amongst the Muslims must sincerely invoke Allah and make effort to find the truth. The truth is a bitter cup from which only the strong can drink. Islam in it's true form was spread on the backs of real men and women.
A man came to Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) wanting to argue about Qadr (Divine Decree).
He said : "Do you know that the one who looks into Al-Qadr is like the one who looks at the sun with his bare eyes? The more you look into it, the more confused you become."
Al-Hasan al-Basri rahimullah advised some of his students, admonishing them about being proud and haughty. He said:
"Do not deceive yourself into being proud because you are in
a good or righteous environment, for there is no place that is better than Paradise and yet our father, Adam, experienced there what is known to all.
Do not become proud merely because you worship often, for consider what happened to Iblees (Satan) after he spent a great deal of time worshiping.
Do not think yourself great because you have accompanied righteous people, for there is no man more righteous than the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), yet the disbelievers and hypocrites did not benefit by simply knowing him!"
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
