I don't think "layman" should be used so lightly nowadays. I find there's a level between laymen (not sure if that's a plural) and Ulamaa. I call this level "aware"

Strongly noting that the ones being tackled in these issues are not Ulamaa and to be honest, these misguided individuals can very easily be tackled by the aware Muslims which mashaAllah Muadh, shining light, abu muhammad etc have proven. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى accept the noble efforts and concerns. Ameen

Ameen, Perfect choice of words. "aware". Alhumdulillah. Must make it clear, I am no where near being a scholar, far from it. just aware of the things happening around us. and want to help as much as possible

Actions are according to intentions, May Allah keep our intentions purley for his pleasure, ameen

assalaamu 'alaykum...
as Mawlana Yasin is aware i'm not too brilliant with technology myself!...i think someone else should be in charge.

As far as the name is concerned, i dont know, but i feel there should be some indication in the name that the subject is to do with following a madhab...I think ordinary people not "aware" as well as those searching for answers concerning all this will not realise that this section is where they should look.

But i do want to be a part of it so please please Mawlana Yasin and other brothers, whatever i can do let me know

Jazakallah, Muadh, Seifeddine, Ummi Taalib & most of all Mowlana Yasin.

I am ready to take responsiblity, InshaAllah, when theres a will theres a way. I will do what it takes to get this going & take from every one that has something to add.

With regards to the subject name, I think "Salafus Saleheen" should be okay. Most of the people I come across always start or with "We follow the Salaf..."

If the title was "Salafi" or "Follow a Madhab", then I think it would look like we are targeting that group only, (I am), but it also includes the Shia's. I dont know. It has to be a name that will explain everything in a few words.

"The way of the Salaf"
"Salafus Saleheen"
"Dont be fooled/missguided"
"Reality of the Salaf "
"The Salaf Hijacked"
"Siratul Mustaqeem"
Any more? or we could stick to Mowlana Yasins names.

Asslamo Allaikum,

In my humble and unqualified opinion "Salafus Saliheen" is not an accurate description of the section  because the section will Insha'Allah grow to have articles which will be much more then what the title suggests. Moreover many Muslims may not be aware of what this term means?

Sirtaul-Mustaqeem or something similar conveys the meaning and intent accurately and will cover whatever the section will contain and our intent (which is to be on Siratul Mustaqeem, Insha'Allah).

Insha'Allah whatever the more knowledgable ones suggest will be good.

Allah (SWT) knows best.

wa'alaykumus salaam. Totally agree about the salafus saaliheen. It gives an incorrect description. Siraaatal mustaqeem is better but i still feel there should be something in the name which indicates toward the subject i.e. taqleed to a madhab is the salafis' primary disagreement so the titile should catch people's attention when they are searching. Also when people google for this particular subject our site should be one of the results....

I am with what ever is agreed upon by the others. It has to be accurate. Mowlana Yasin has suggested "The True Salaf As Saliheen".

If its in the "Site Menu" it needs to be seen, although a few may not know what the term means, those who are confronted with the subject will definately understand. This should be designed for the benifit of them (people wanting to learn), The Ghair Muqallids and as well as ours. InshaAllah

I had recently come up with a new name for the Salafis because they are constantly changing their ways. The word Taqleed was used by them to describe us as Mushriks. They would say that Taqleed is Shirk, but know that we are able to quash their arguments and prove to them that they are wrong, they have once again "evovled"

Many Salafis I encounter now agree with Taqleed, SubhanAllah. They finally agree with Imam Ahmed and Ibn Taymiyyah. (These are the scholars they quote).

By the way, the name I gave them was:
"Ahl al-Sunnat al-Mansukha wa 'l-Tajdid."
'The people of abrogated Sunnah and evolution'

Instead of "Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat".

W-Salam,

Technically a very accurate term but I request you to tell people in the very first post as why you chose this and what it means.

The reason why this name came to my head was because of a few discussions I had with some Salafi Bros during Ramadhan.

They kept making changes to their ways. e.g. Before Ramadhan had started, the salafis would pray Salatul Isha immediately after Salatul Maghrib in a certain mosque and gave their evidences. When I met some of the other brothers later on they would tell me that some people had complained therefore they started praying at the correct times and said "every one makes mistakes".

last year, during Ramadhan they were saying that Salatul Tasbeeh was Bidah, and they were adamant about it until I gave them a book by ibn Taymiyyah proving its authenticity. So they changed their mind again.

Taraweeh is the classic one, many many years ago I was told by some Ahle Hadith bros that "Taraweeh is only 8 rakat, look at Makkah", I cant remember if they did 8 or not but I tell them look at Makkah now.

Taqleed is another evolution, before it was shirk, now its a must (according to some)

Masah on Cotton Socks, they say there is no evidence to suggest you cant do it. So I tell them to also do Masah on their sleeves, as there is no evidence to suggest they cant do that. (rubbish argument from my side, but i dont get any answers back)

The younger brothers constantly taunt others saynig that the way we pray is weak and they have stronger evidences, only for them to find out that their method is abrogated.

They still praise Allah during Salah when certain verses are recited inside Salah.

They pull out the Miswak during Salah and brush their teeth inside Salah.

And so on. If I am wrong on any of these issues which I understand to be abrogated, then please tell me.

Zakat, the new evolution. Give to a rich TV channel!......

Unfortunately, this discussion looks like a topic in disguise. That was not supposed to happen, it was unintentional, for those who are wondering.
