"Allah ta'ala tends to bring hardships and suffering on those whom He loves. These trials and hardships are created so that the beloved servants of Allah turn to him and repent for their mistakes.
This is also the reason why we witness major catastrophes befalling nations whose population is mainly Muslim. Such catastrophes are signals that there is a deficiency in the connection that we should have with Allah."
