Passport to Success

I heard Shaykh the following:
"The example of good deeds and intentions is like that of a passportand its visa. The first thing that will be checked is the validity andauthenticity of the passport. If there is any fault in this, the visawill not even be considered. Likewise our intentions are our passports,if they are not correct and valid then our actions will not be evenconsidered for approval. Hence we need to correct both our actions andintentions."

I heard the following from Shaykh:
"The best way to remember a hadeeth (or any other deeni matter) isto practice upon it. If a person prays his salaah according to thesunnah, then he will automatically know the sunnah for all he has do isto ponder upon his salaah. On the contrary if a person learns them butdoes not practice upon them then sooner or later he will forget it."
"A person should not only rectify his intentions at the beginning of anaction, but he should continuously check his intentions and rectifythem."
"One principle that should be remembered when earning and spending isthat earnings are not under one's control, however expenditure is. Sowhilst spending we should keep sight of our income. It should not bethat while earning we look at our expenditure. Many people commit sinto keep up with the level of spending, which is incorrect".

| Hate the Illness; Not the Patient by Hafeed Abdul Kader Once a person whom Shaykh knew came up to Shaykh and conveyed salaam.Shaykh replied noticing that the brother shaved his beard to a merestubble. It was amazing to see Shaykh's reaction: Shaykh didn't reprimand him, but instead with love and softly said, "you cut your beard?" and simultaneously took hold of his hand and kissed it!The person became shy and smiled. Shaykh clearly alerted this person inthe most beautiful manner but that this person had only briefly lapsedtemporarily, and should continue to let it grow. This incident reminded me of another, when Shaykh said not to hate the person who was ill but the illness: "A person with a skin problem or a wound that is visible - oozing withblood and puss - will naturally make us feel uneasy or queasy. Howeverour hearts will have a lot of sympathy for this person, and we willwant to help by at least saying a few nice words which will givecomfort and give solace to the patient...what about the person who has aspiritual illness? He needs even more love than that patient who has aphysical illness!" From this we can deduce how detrimental spiritual illnesses are,because if these illnesses are not treated in this life then they canproduce dire situation when we leave this world. May Allah rectify usthrough the means of our Shaykh; Ameen. |

I once heard say the following:
"In a verse of the Holy Qur'aan, Allah subhanahu wata'aala mentionsthat this world is so paltry in His 'eyes', that He would have givennon-Muslims houses made of gold and silver. As in Allah's estimationgold and silver, along with the riches of this world hold negligiblevalue [as they are in reality not the bringer of successes, respect, ordignity, as commonly a human would think. But these are in Allah'scontrol, and he distributes them as He pleases].
And so Allah allots these treasures to whom He wishes [whether Believeror Non-Believer, to some as a blessing, to some as a punishment, and tosome as a trial] so that the Believers don't perceive that it isbecause of their belief that they may have been, in a sense, penalised!
Allah has placed a inherent love and inclination towards wealth inevery humans heart. This is so that it assists in the system of thisworld to run smoothly. Otherwise, nobody would accept the reward ofmoney for work and commerce. And to fufil one's need, wealth isnecessary. Even for the needs of the Hereafter, i.e. spending in thepath of Allah, wealth is needed. However, Allah subhanahu wata'aala hasordered us to control and curb this love of wealth".
Many-a-time, Shaykh gives an analogy of the Sea being the world (andwealth) and a human as a boat. He says "A boat cannot sail without thesea, but it sails upon the water. The water of the ocean is obviouslynot allowed to enter the vessel, otherwise it will sink. So use theworld as a tool, but don't let the love of the world enter your heart,otherwise you will sink!"
