MOTHERS DAY???
Duty to both parents, especially the mother, and treating them kindly is an act of worship enjoined in both the Qur'an and Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam. Being dutiful to parents is not confined to a specific time or day. It is an obligation that should be observed at all times, as all people commonly know Islam's teaching on honouring the mother means that their is no need for an innovation, and unislamic custom such as Mother's Day, as is evident from the following Ahadith:
A man came to the Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam and said, 'O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam said: Your mother. The man said, 'Then who?' The Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam said: Then your mother. The man further asked, 'Then who?' The Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam said: Then your mother. The man asked again, 'Then who?' The Prophet Sallallahualaihiwassalam said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).
Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting with Rasulullah Sallallahualaihiwassalam when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! Do my parents have rights over me even after they have died? And Rasulullah Sallallahualaihiwassalam said: Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness and Mercy, fulfil the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah).
Abdullah ibn Amr related that the Messenger Sallallahualaihiwassalam of Allah said: The major sins are to believe that Allah has partners, to disobey one's parents, to commit murder, and to bear false witness (Bukhari, Muslim).
From this we can conclude that it is incumbent upon a muslim to look after his/her parents at all times, and our parents, especially our mother is important and special to us everyday all year round throughout our whole lives and not just for one particular day.
