Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet (Sal-allahu-aleihi-wasallam) said to Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib:

"O Abbas, my uncle! Shall I not make a present to you ? Shall I not make a gift to you ? Shall I not infrom you ? Shall I not produce in you ten virtues when you will do that, Allah will forgive your sins, its first and its last, its past and its present, its involuntary and its voluntary, its small and its great, its secret and its open."

(That is): You should pray four (4) rakats reading in each rakat the Opening of the Book (Sura Fatiha) and a sura.

When you become free from reading in the first rakat while you are standing, you shall utter 15 times "Subhan Allah-e-Wa-Al Hamd-o-lillah-e-Wala-Ilaha-Ilallaho-Wallaho-Akbar" [Glory to be Allah and All Praise is for Allah and There is no deity but Allah and Allah is the Greatest];

then you shall bow down and utter it 10 times while you are in bowing;

next you shall raise up your head from bowing and utter it 10 times;

next you shall prostrate down and utter it 10 times while you are in prostration;
next you shall raise up your head from prostration and utter it 10 times;

next you shall prostrate down again and utter it 10 times in prostration;

next you shall raise up your head and utter it ten times.

And that will be 75 times in each rakat. You shall do it in the four rakats.

If you are able to pray it once in every day, do so; and if you are unable to do so then once in every week; if you are (still) unable to do so, then once in every month; if you are still unable to do so them once in a year; if you are (still) unable to do so, then once in your life.

Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Tirmizi narrated a similar Hadith from Abu Rafe and Baihaqi narrated this Hadith in Dawat-ul-Kabir. Hadith No.1252 of Mishkat Al-Masabih.

Illustration: There are seven postures in a rakat of Salat, in Salat Tasbeeh you need to utter 75 times "Subhan Allah-e-Wa-Al Hamd-o-lillah-e-Wala-Ilaha-Ilallaho-Wallaho-Akbar" in each rakat.
Glory to be Allah and all Praise is for Allah and there is no deity but Allah and Allah is the Greatest.

1-After Fatiha and Sura (15 Times)

2-In Rukoo (10 Times)

3-Before bowing down (10 Times)

4-In Sajda (First) (10 Times)

5- In sitting between two Sajda (10 Times)

6- In Sajda (Second) (10 Times)

- Before standing up for next rakat; and before Qaedah (Tahiyat) in the 2nd & last rakat. (10 Times)

7- Return to standing position after completing 1st & 3rd rakat. (10 Times)

-
This salat is very pleasing, will be completed in 15-20 minutes. Please do not count the numbers while praying, instead you can press your fingers to remember. In case, you utter the less Tasbeeh in one posture, complete the numbers in the next posture.

Salaam,

Why do some people say Salaatul Tasbeeh is an act of bid'ah?

Assalamu Alaikum,

I think the best people to ask why are the people who actually say it's bid'ah, unless someone from this site knows why they say it. They probably have ahadeeth infront of them but take the wrong meaning from them, jsut like they do with so many other things.

Anyway, that's just my point, insha'Allah you'll get a better response from the other members.

Duas requested.

Wassalam

As for because the hadith is weak..this is not a good enough reason to totally rule out any hadith and also people should not really call things BIDAT without knowledge...these days some give out FATWA's and they do not even practice islam......ALLAH hum sab ko hidayat day ameen

You should ask an Alim about it, they'll know the answer.

People say it's weak (some) but then there's others that might be strong but they don't know about it, or it's in a hadeeth book they don't accept.

If you ask the 'Ulama, they'll give you a good answer insha'Allah.

Definately agree with you there Muslimah_119, after reading a few kitaabs here and there people think they've become a Mufti and so easily give fatwahs & accuse one of Bid'ah and Kuffr

the above salaat should be prayed by each individual @ least once in his/her life. my mother's pupil told her there is no such thing. hence there is no sawaab 4 it.

my mother had a shock, as she prays it quite often in ramadhaan. i told her not to believe everything ppl say. i am not learned, unfortunately, so i just told her to let her pupil know that, there is such a thing in which we are rewarded abundently. it has been prescribed to us by our beloved Nabi pbuh. and that i will quote from a kitaab to let her know.

jazakillah muslimah_119, i can be lazy & extract it from the above. *cheeky smile*

waiyyakum Queenie...i actually spoke to some of the respected scholars regarding this and they told me that this salat is very virtueous and people with no knowledge (like myself..smile) should really not go around saying things are bidat without the knowledge and proof to back it up....sorry......very frustrating when there are so many beautiful and rewarding things in which we can do to become closer to ALLAH subhana wa ta'ala and we find that people DO NOT BELIEVE in these actions but still they so easily create there own traditions and plaster ISLAM on it without a second thought...i'm amazed............oh well ALLAHU AKBAR

unfortunately, it has become rather common for ppl to dismiss hadeeths. no matter how authentic.

its a shame. its right in their face, yet they deny it. there are some gullable ppl out there that end up believing these false statements.
luckily, my mother asked me b4 completely falling for that. (though she was shocked)

its like those artist that insist instruments are allowed. one said that it is not mentioned in the holy Quran, therefore it must be irrelevent. hence not an important issue. so he carries on using instruments in the background of his album. its madness. (hello, has he not heard of other authentic books that contain hadeeths etc??)

I hold the view that the prayer known as al-Tasbh is not from the Sunnah and that the hadth referring to it is weak. I hold this view for the following reasons:
1) In cases of worship, any act is prohibited unless legal evidence is provided to show that it is legally valid.

2) The hadth about this prayer is contradictory in many ways.

3) It was not recommended by any scholar. Ibn Taymiyah said: "Ahmad and his companions stated their dislike of it and no scholar recommended it." He also said: "Ab Hanfah and al-Shafi` knew nothing about it."

4) If that prayer is lawful it would have been conveyed to us clearly by the scholars and it would have been well known, because of its great benefits and its being very different than other prayers other forms of worship. We know of no other form of worship that offers the choice of performing it every day, once a week, once a month, once a year, or once in a lifetime.
Also, since it has so many advantages and is not similar to any other prayer, and at the same time is not well known and not recommended, then we know it is has no basis to it. This is because when people know of something so unique possessing so many advantages, they pay attention to it and talk about it with others until it becomes widely circulated among the people. Since this is not the case with this prayer, we know the prayer is not prescribed. This is why none of the great legal scholars ever recommended it.

There are a sufficient number of voluntary acts of worship that are established by sound evidence and that provide sufficient blessings for those wishing to do more. This prayer - which has so much disagreement and ambiguity surrounding it - is unnecessary.
