Enlightening Excerpts

Bismillahirahmanirrahim, Allahumma sali ala sayyiddina muhammadin wa ala alay sayyiddina muhammadin wa barik wa salim

Asalamu'alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

I realize MuftiSays Forums already have a "Words of Wisdom" section, Masha'Allah; but often times whilst reading books, articles storeis etc, we come across passages that are too long to just place as quotes or classify as "phrases" and the such. It is also true that often times a whole book is simply amazing, if this is the case then a little bit of the book can be quoted at a time so that we, as the salikeen, can let it sink in and reap their benefits insha'Allah. If the poster could post the book and author it would be appreciated insha'Allah, JazakAllahukhayrun Katheera.

Two more things as a reminder; let us remember that we must respect all the masha'aykh of Sunni Islam, wether or not we share the same views. I hope this does not turn into a "Shaykh Bashing" segment. Insha'Allah by the looks of MuftiSays it wont.

And finally, it is the Sunnah of our Habib Sal'Allahualaihiwasalam, the way of the Sahabah RadhiAllahuanhum, their successors and Our Shuyukh, that we advise that which we practice. So if it's advice we are posting and urging let us make sure we implement it first or are trying to implement it insha'Allah. May Allah save us from saying one thing and doing another.

Insha'Allah, it is my hope that we can make this space a place for us to share spiritaully uplifting and/or motivational passages from Islamic Texts. May "Enlightening Excerpts" be a source of barakah insha'Allah, and may Allah reward you for sharing any 'ilm you acquire in his path insha'Allah.

And lastly i request that each and every reader bring to my attention and correct any mistakes i make and keep me in their humble duaas.

From Love for Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala by Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Daamat Barkatuhu

Below is merely and excerpt from the prologue, insha'Allah more will come, but for now:

"For the mind, heart, and sight, the first shaykh is 'ishq [love]. If there be not 'ishq, then shari'ah [Islamic Law] and din [religion] become but idols of whimsical ideas.

Today people have become so arrested by the love of the material world [dunya] that they are always occuppied in obtaining its goods. Outwardly they speak of love for Allah Subhanahu wa ta 'ala to console their hearts. However, the truth of the matter is that in the Court of the King of Love Subhanau wa ta 'ala, there is no such thing as division of the heart. There, one must step with concentration and deliberation and must close the eyes of one's heart to everything but Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. How unfortunate that we are not even willing to take the first step of closing our physical eyes."

here is something everyone should try and implement, i liked it so much that i wrote it down and kept it as a beneficial reminder, as time has passed i'm not quite sure where i read it and obtained it from.

The journey through the distance draws determination and strength through visioning the destination. Although the sight of one's destination is not visible along the journey, the vision of it keeps us moving, knowing that eventually, with His will, we will arrive there in longing to be in His Divine Presence. The effort of travelling the distance always keeps one in consciousness of the purpose of his journey. Just like the one who puts effort in his steps to walk home or steers the wheels of his vehicle in order to arrive at his domain. The journey to Him is the permanent domain, where all longing belongs to.

Those with faith the likeness of Mount 'Uhud feared lest they lose it any moment, while we without paltry faith remain self-confident that we will die as belivers. This gift is a precious treasure that msut be guarded. How often we overlook the blessing of faith! For this we must seek forgiveness everyday. It is our duty and our pleasure. Allah سبحانه وتعالى has fondness for two drops: the drop of blood from a martyr's body andthe teardrop of shame and regret from a sinner's eye.

I think this is a very good idea, it gives others a chance to see what good book are out there and it's like a little promotion for the book themselves.

I have definately added some more books to my list :)

A while back I bought Bukhari's famous Al- Adab AlMufrad-A code for everyday living:The example of the early muslims.

Here is part of chapter 5:On Kind Words to Parents

Taysala b.Mayyas said:"I was with the Najadites(Khawarij, the followers of Najadah ibn Amir) when I committed wrong actions which I supposed to be major sins.I mentioned to Ibn 'Umar.He inquired, 'What are they?' I said 'Such and such'. He stated, 'These are not great sins. There are nine great sins and they are: associating any things with Allah ; killing someone; desertion from the army when it is advancing; slandering a chaste woman; usury; consuming an orphan's property; heresy in the (sacred) Mosque of (Makkah); scoffing(at Muslims); and causing one's parents to weep through disobedience.'

Ibn umar then said to me,'Do you fear the Fire?Do you want to enter the Garden?'I said 'By Allah , yes. He asked, 'Are your parents still alive?' I replied, 'My mother is.' He said, By Allah if you speak kindly to her and feed her, then you will definately enter the Garden as long as you avoid the major sins.''

You took the next book i was headed towards, Alhumdulillah ala kulli haal, much more can be copied from that book though.

Insha'Allah will post an excerpt later, but to asnwer your question Sister Mujahidah an Nafs- I'm not to sure about part II being published at all. Masha'Allah the book is such a hit that right now in the USA, where their Publishers: Faqir Publications are located, the book is all out of stock everywhere and there are No More copies in print becuase it was sold out.

From what i know the Publishers may feel a bit hesitant about making more copies because they do not know if this book is indeed being used the right way or is just being bought and then stored away liek we do to many books and gathering dust. So with that being said, i'm not too sure about the second edition, as the first was a series of letters written by Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Daamat Barkatuhu when he still had some time on his hands, and now Masha'Allah [according to his schedule found on tasawwuf.org] he's constantly travelling Fi'Sabilillah, so i don't think he has much time to write letters to so many murids as he did then. I'm sure he is in touch with many of his murids and alot of them do travel with him and he also has many khulafah all around globe.

But in any case, please make duaa they do print more first editions and inshaa'Allah publish a second edition... truly the first was nothing short of Subhan'Allah.
