i have read and heard in history mashallah muslims in india and the middle east persia included had "soup kitchens"
even now in india i know of some where ambulances from islamic institutions go to any village and hand out free medicene ,food and also clothing,to anyone
they do some good collections in uk in ramadhan for funds zakaat sadaqah
Maybe we need similar projects tailored for the U.k. ....You are posting alot of interesting and relevant stuff perhaps it would be
better if you posted them all in one thread, rather then let these disappear into the archives.
Our duas are with brothers who offer their services in "khidmat-e-khalq".
There is khidmat-e-khalq as a collective effort. Also few brothers are an institution alone by themselves. They won't wait for people to gather and deliver, selflessness is the word. May Allah swt reward them for all their efforts.
In Indian cities we have observed individuals (in hundreds) distribute coupons, on different days of week to the needy. Hotels in the area exchange these coupons for full meal. The hotel also offers a discount to the coupon distributor. An healthy trend.
Muslim charity dispatched to Cumbria amid further flood warnings
Sufyaan Valimulla, 23, part of a team from the Al-Imdaad Foundation which arrived in Carlisle today, told The Independent: “We’re liaising with the Cumbria fire and rescue service. This morning we were told that a lot of people, especially the elderly, are going back from rescue centres to their homes, and are seeing the devastation there. We’ve been providing hot food, fresh water, and helping people clear their homes.” He added: “A lot of people have been decorating their homes for Christmas and have been literally crying on our shoulders because they are heartbroken and distraught.” More than 60 volunteers have already signed up to come at the weekend, but Mr Valimulla said: “People need a lot more help, whatever we do is never going to be enough.”
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
