The flower and the pearl

posted by ummi taalib on 15th October 2012 - 0 comments
One day, a brilliantly beautiful and fragrant flower with attractive colors met a pearl that lives far in the bottom of the sea and has none of the characteristics. Both got acquainted with each other. The flower said”: Our family is large; roses and daisies are members of the family. And there are many other species that are various and countless, each has a distinctive scent, appearance, etc” Suddenly, a tinge of distress appeared on the flower. “Nothing accounts for sorrow in your talk; so why are you depressed?” the pearl asked.

Taking Lessons from Flowers

posted by ummi taalib on 24th September 2012 - 0 comments
This is a beautiful analogy of the state of the Muslims by Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel Saheb (rahmatullah alayh) Whilst taking a walk through Mitchell Park one morning, after Fajr, breathing in the fresh morning air, we found the pathway covered with flowers, having fallen off the trees. I mentioned to my friends : ‘At one time these flowers were on the trees. They were admired. People enjoyed and appreciated their fragrance, inhaling and saying, ‘How beautiful…, ‘ ‘How sweet…’ ‘How charming…’ However, when the slight breeze touched those flowers, they left the branches of the trees. They fell onto the ground. Then we found those same people, who once admired and enjoyed those pretty flowers, trample over them as they took their walks. Those pretty, colourful and fragrant flowers became a carpet on the ground and were crushed underfoot – as if those visitors were squashing the hearts of those flowers. After some time, the garden service swept those flowers away and they were thrown into some bin. Thereafter, the bin bags were disposed of at some dump.’ I then explained this as an analogy to my friends.

Heart in Darkness & Ruins

This is exactly what goes on in a heart that is devoid of the remembrance of Allah .. His ghair finds way through the many open windows.. dust blows in through his eyes when they are cast at ghair Mahram.. so does the filth of haram food that gushes forth through the arteries.. and the insects of haram thoughts gather within either through ears by listening to music.. or through other senses.. now this heart is just like the house above.. dark and in ruins..

A Baby's Cries

posted by ummi taalib on 12th May 2012 - 0 comments

A baby comes into this world with absolutely nothing and totally helpless with no abilities except that of crying. It cries in hunger, pain and discomfort. It cries for its needs to be fulfilled. Mufti Shafi' sahib says that if only we cried like this child to Allah Almighty Who can fulfil every need of ours!

THE ONE CENT COIN

posted by ummi taalib on 26th November 2011 - 0 comments
The 1 Cent Coin By Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel Saheb (رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ) Once, when taking a walk through a park, with some friends, we came across a fountain, wherein were numerous 1 cent and 2 cent coins. On noticing this, it came to mind, that since the 1 cent coin and the 2 cent coin have negligible value – in fact, no worth or value is really given to these coins – they are generally discarded in a fountain, after some ‘wish’ is made. …And if the wish is such, that it would definitely be accomplished with money, then a mere 1 cent or 2 cents would not suffice for the fulfilment of the grand wishes of those who throw with any such hope… Nevertheless, I presented this analogy to my companions:

The Glass Lighthouse

posted by ummi taalib on 25th October 2011 - 0 comments
Imagine being enclosed in a strong lighthouse in the middle of the sea. It is made of glass so you can see the winds raging all around you and the waves crashing against it. Imagine watching this scene snuggled up in a deep sofa, with a hot mug of tea or coffee in your hands feeling warm and safe. The winds continue raging and the waves get higher and lightening streaks across the sky as the storm begins brewing, yet your heart feels no fear since you know that you are safe in the strong lighthouse. So it is for one who has a strong connection with Allah subhaanahu wata'ala. Many such people are beseeched by calamities so much so that they come out of one situation only to be faced with another one. Onlookers would think they must be drowning in grief however in reality it is not so. Their connection with their Lord is such that the grief is present, the pain is felt but their hearts are at peace as Allah is with those who remain patient and steadfast! .

When the Sun Rises

posted by ummi taalib on 8th June 2011 - 0 comments
Shyakh Yunus Patel sahib (DB) presents a wonderful and splendid analogy. He asks: “When does the sun rise?” and then he, himself, gives the reply: “When the horizon turns red.” Then he continues to describe the spiritual condition of the heart in the same light : When the heart turns red with the blood of one’s evil desires which have been sacrificed for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala, then Allah Ta’ala causes not just one ‘sun’ but many ‘suns’ of His Muhabbat (Love) and Ma’rifat (Recognition) to rise in such a heart. The sun of this world has restrictions : It neither lights up the entire world at once, nor is its heat always the same. Moreover, whilst it brings light and warmth as it rises; it inevitably sets, leaving behind darkness.

The Raindrop

posted by ummi taalib on 22nd May 2011 - 1 comment

Sheikh Saadi (Rahmatullah ‘alayh) mentions a beautiful story, in his Bustaan, of a raindrop which fell from a spring cloud. Seeing the magnitude and vast expanse of the ocean, it was ashamed. Reflecting and introspecting, it thought : “Where am I next to the sea ? Compared with it, I am extinct. I am nothing.”

In its contemplative and pensive mood, it regarded itself with an eye of disdain. Whilst doing so, an oyster surfaced from the ocean and took the raindrop within the haven of its care. Destiny then shaped its course that eventually the raindrop became a renowned Royal pearl.

For its humility and humbleness, it found itself exalted. Its annihilation, made it existent.

A Brilliant Analogy!

posted by ummi taalib on 16th May 2011 - 1 comment
Occupy your Heart with Allāh Ta’ala Courtesy of In Shaykh's Company: a blog maintained by the students of Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullah www.shaykh.org “Whatever is inside a person’s heart will emerge at the time of death. If the love for Allāh ta’ala is in a person’s heart then at the time of death this will become apparent, and if the love of the world is in the heart then this too will show at the time of death. Take the example of a parrot; you can teach it to say the word ‘Allāh’ and it may say ‘Allāh’ all day long. However, when a cat pounces at it, only then will the reality emerge, i.e. it will resort to its natural voice and squawk in alarm. It will not say ‘Allāh’, as it was merely on its tongue, not in its heart.
