Easy Method of Attaining Allah Ta'ala's Love

posted by ummi taalib on 8th July 2011 - 0 comments
Taken from Shaykh Hakeem Akhtar Sahib’s (hafizahullah) book, “Reformation of Charachter”. Three steps toward attaining Allah Ta'ala's love. First When a person daily presents himself in the company of another for a short while, after a few days, love is inculcated. The result of meeting daily for some time is that if per chance they do not meet each other, then one will become restless for the other. There is no need for any proofs for this reality. In like manner, begin meeting Allah Ta’ala daily for a short while. The manner of this is that while facing the Qiblah, one should, in solitude make theZzikr of Allah Ta'ala for a short while. Kalimah Tauheed, Durood Sharif, recitation of Qur'an, Uttering 'Allah, Allah" are all included in Zikr. This Zikr is the meeting with Allah Ta'ala. It is narrated in Hadith Qudsi

When the Sun Rises

posted by ummi taalib on 8th June 2011 - 0 comments
Shyakh Yunus Patel sahib (DB) presents a wonderful and splendid analogy. He asks: “When does the sun rise?” and then he, himself, gives the reply: “When the horizon turns red.” Then he continues to describe the spiritual condition of the heart in the same light : When the heart turns red with the blood of one’s evil desires which have been sacrificed for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala, then Allah Ta’ala causes not just one ‘sun’ but many ‘suns’ of His Muhabbat (Love) and Ma’rifat (Recognition) to rise in such a heart. The sun of this world has restrictions : It neither lights up the entire world at once, nor is its heat always the same. Moreover, whilst it brings light and warmth as it rises; it inevitably sets, leaving behind darkness.

The Raindrop

posted by ummi taalib on 22nd May 2011 - 1 comment

Sheikh Saadi (Rahmatullah ‘alayh) mentions a beautiful story, in his Bustaan, of a raindrop which fell from a spring cloud. Seeing the magnitude and vast expanse of the ocean, it was ashamed. Reflecting and introspecting, it thought : “Where am I next to the sea ? Compared with it, I am extinct. I am nothing.”

In its contemplative and pensive mood, it regarded itself with an eye of disdain. Whilst doing so, an oyster surfaced from the ocean and took the raindrop within the haven of its care. Destiny then shaped its course that eventually the raindrop became a renowned Royal pearl.

For its humility and humbleness, it found itself exalted. Its annihilation, made it existent.

Submission is the Objective

posted by ummi taalib on 7th March 2011 - 0 comments
From the teachings of Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat (hafizahullah)

Submission is not impossible. When one goes for Hajj and enters the state of ihram, one refrains from the prohibitions of ihram. Using perfume is prohibited, hence one will abstain from using perfume. Then Allah commands the hajji to travel from one place to another, to throw pebbles at the jamaaraat, to sacrifice an animal etc. etc. Each one of these commands are followed without question. The nafs is controlled for all these commands and prohibitions which proves submission is not an impossibility.

The objective is submission to Allah, as Ibraaheem submitted to every command of his Lord. Such submission that he was prepared to sacrifice his son however since killing Ismail was not the objective the knife did not do its work and an animal was sent instead for the sacrifice.

Even today if we created the submission of Ibraaheem, the fire can become a garden.

A Beautiful Explanation

posted by ummi taalib on 15th February 2011 - 0 comments
On sending Durood upon our beloved Nabi sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam (from Ibn ‘Aabideen) which has made such an impact on me that I wished to share it with others Insha Allah. When we send As-Salaat upon our beloved Nabi sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, the word “salaat” means, “a complete (kaamil) praise”, except that it is not within our capability to do so. Therefore we have been ordered to consign it to Allah subhaanahu wata’ala to do, which when He does, will be a complete praise. Another meaning in the word, “salaat” is that of ta’theem (honour/reverence) i.e. “Allaahumma ‘aththimhu”. We are asking Allah subhaanahu wata’ala to elevate/exalt his name in this world i.e. speak of him in a noble manner and by spreading/implementing his Sharee’at. We are also asking Allah subhaanahu wata’ala to exalt him in the Hereafter by multiplying his reward and granting him intersession of his Ummah. Also Mufti Shafi ra writes that that the status of Nabi sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam is so high, that the act of sending salaat upon him is already being done by Allah himself and his Angels as indicated in Surah Ahzab. By reciting durood, we are asking Allah to increase the salaat he sends upon Nabi sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam.

TAKABBUR

posted by ummi taalib on 28th December 2010 - 1 comment
from the teachings of Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat (hafizahullah) PRIDE IN THE FORM OF HUMILITY Shaykh Zakaria ra used to say that Takabbur (pride) takes two forms: Takabbur in the form of takabbur: when a person with pride in his heart is shown respect and made to sit on a place of respect, he thinks in his heart that he is deserving of this. Takabbur in the form of Tawaadhu (humility): when a person with pride in his heart is shown respect and made to sit at a place of respect, he refuses saying he is not deserving of it and takes a lowly seat while thinking he is deserving of the respect but by lowering himself onlookers will admire his humility. This is a worse state to be in.

Love for the Beloved's City

posted by ummi taalib on 31st October 2010 - 0 comments
Majnun, the man so madly in love that it turned him into a poet, used to recite such sweet words whilst in his stupor of love: [i]I pass by the houses of Layla, I kiss this wall and I kiss that wall. It is not the love of the houses that has enraptured my heart, but the one that resides within them.[/center] Thus, it is no secret that the lover loves everything associated with his beloved. As lovers of the Messenger of Allah, we too should have a natural and deep yearning for his blessed city, the walls of which his blessed body is residing in. The Believer’s love for Madinah should be like that of a fish out of water, agitated and unable to survive.

Lessons on the Mathnawi - Sweet Song of the Nightingale

posted by ummi taalib on 19th October 2010 - 0 comments
Mawlana Rumi said, “Even though you learn the singing of the birds, How will you be able to derive the inner state experienced by that bird when it sweetly sings. In spite of practicing and singing the sweet songs of the nightingale, In spite of executing it to perfection, What will you know of what it is saying to the flower?” Shaykh Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar sahib explains in “Lessons on the Mathnawi”:
