Quotable Quotes from the Seerah Conference

18th July 2012
The objective of Seerah conferences is to reflect on the excellences and virtues of our beloved Rasoolullaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, to reflect on our shortcomings and make resolutions to mend our ways. The following are just a few quotes from the Seerah conference held at the IDA with various speakers and Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat (Hafizahullah)

Islam & Fashion?
Our Deen is not denying comfort, decent homes, a car or good meals however the concept of simplicity has disappeared from our lives and replaced by extravagance in all aspects of life. This has led to laxity in Deen and it has destroyed the very essence of Deen.

Fashion and Deen are words which contradict each other yet today fashion dictates our way of life. Even Deeni activities have become an entertainment where “Islamic fashion” shows are organised. Islam and fashion are as far apart from each other as East and West. These are factors which are driving us further and further away from the Sunnah and simplicity in meeting with people, in our Akhlaaq, in our dress and mode of living have disappeared. (Mawlana Yasin Sahib)

Fulfil the Duty of being an Ummati
Nabi Ibraaheem, Nabi Moosaa, Nabi ‘Isaa all made du’a to be included in the Ummat of our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam. We were fortunate by being included without having to ask so let us fulfil the duty of being an Ummati of Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam by loving everything about him, his family, the people who were around him, the Qur’an and even places in history. Let us love his way. Let us adorn our private and public lives with his way and we will be with him in Jannah because we will be with whom we love!

Proof of his love for his Ummah
We say he is our beloved but our claim will be false if anything about us from head to toe, our clothing, our mode of life etc. is not according to his way. Yet there is no doubt regarding his love for us and the proof is in his worry for us, his Du’a for us and in his teachings and in the fact that he will not be happy until every follower of his is saved from the fire!

“Warafa’naa laka dhikrak”
“And We have elevated your mention” Qur’an 94:4

How elevated is his status that one’s Imaan is not complete until along with belief in Allah, one believes in Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam and in the finality of his Prophethood.

Athaan and Iqaamat are not complete until his name is mentioned along with the name of Allah and this calling of the Athaan is such that there is not a single moment when it is not being called out in some part of the world. The following link is a beautiful explanation of this phenomenon http://www.idauk.org/publications/leaflet13.html

The questioning in the grave will not be complete until one is asked about him.

On the Day of Judgement every Prophet will worry about himself while our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam will be ready to intercede for us.
