Hadith Narrated Abu-Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, [i]"No child is born except on Al-fitra (Islam) and then his parents make him Jewish, Christian or Magian (Zoroastrian), as an animal produces a perfect young animal: do you see any part of its body amputated?" - Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 441 From the above hadith, we learn that every child is born on Islam. It is the parents responsibility to keep the child on Islam.

Baby Blues

* The commonest and mildest form of mood disturbance following childbirth. * Experienced by half to two-thirds of all mothers - in other words it is normal for this to occur. * Involves a period of a few days when mothers experience spells of irritability, feeling gloomy and episodes of crying. * It is more common in mothers who have given birth for the first time and in those who have experienced problems with pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS or PMT).

[i]When I saw her for the first time My heart unleashed a wave of emotion Alhamdulillah she was mine... Early days Although you’ve carried your baby in the womb for 9 months, meeting and handling your new baby can feel anything but natural. For first time parents, looking after a newborn baby will be very blissful as well as make them feel overwhelmed, nervous, confused and maybe slightly terrified.

End of Pregnancy

Allah has stated regarding a developing fetus in the Qur'aan: Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; (12) Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; (13) Then We fashioned the drop into a clot, then We fashioned the clot into a little lump, then We fashioned the little lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! (14) Some Virtues of Pregnancy When a woman becomes pregnant by her husband and he is pleased with her, she obtains the reward of a person engaging in fasting for Allah SWT and a person spending the night in ibaadah (worship).

More about pregnancy

posted by ubuntu on 1st December 2008 - 0 comments
Assalamu Alaykum, I was reading an Urdu book titled 'Mithaali Maa' by and was hoping to translate parts of it for this blog but alhamdulillah I managed to find an already translated passage online which is as follows: Once a woman has confirmed her pregnancy, she should express her gratitude before Allah Ta'ala as this is indeed a great bounty of Allah Ta'ala. This is such a boon that many people beseech Allah Ta'ala throughout their lives for pious children but Allah Ta'ala has destined otherwise. In fact one of the greatest Nabîes of Allah Ta'ala, Hadrat Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) used to supplicate to Allah Ta'ala most profoundly and frequently. Even Hadrat Zakariyya (Alayhis salaam) used to supplicate for children most passionately and fervently during the latter part of his life. Hence, a Muslim woman is required to express her gratitude unto Allah Ta'ala for this great bounty. Gratitude may be expressed in the following ways: 1. Recite the following Du'aa very frequently:

During Pregnancy

posted by ubuntu on 19th October 2008 - 4 comments
What a pregnant woman might experience If you're extremely tuned in to your body's rhythms, you may begin to suspect you're pregnant soon after conception. But most women won't experience any early pregnancy symptoms until the fertilised egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, several days after conception. Others may notice no signs of pregnancy for weeks and begin to wonder "Am I pregnant?" only when they miss a period. Below is a list of some of the first signs of impending motherhood. You may experience all, some, or none of these symptoms of pregnancy: * Food cravings. Yes, it's a cliché, but food cravings sometimes can be a sign of pregnancy. Don't rely on them as a sure symptom (it may be all in your head, or even a sign that your body is low on a particular nutrient), but if cravings are accompanied by some of the other symptoms on this list, start counting the days from your last period. * Implantation bleeding or cramping. About eight days after ovulation, you may experience implantation spotting, a slight staining of a pink or brown colour, as well as some cramping. This is caused by the egg burrowing into the endometrial lining. You might also see some spotting around the time you expect your period. Sometimes this can be mistaken for a normal period.

Early Stages - Important

posted by ubuntu on 6th October 2008 - 0 comments
Bismihi Ta'aala, Everyone is mostly aware of the saying that the first school is the mother's lap. This clearly accepted and indicating to the fact the baby is influenced by what the mother influences the child with while still suckling. The early stages of a baby is the most influencial time. Every baby is born on nature (Islam), then the parents make them Christian or Jew (Al-Hadeeth). The process of parents turning their children into Christians or Jews is not a ritual, a special binding spell or any other physical actions, it is merely the influence of the parents on the child at the early stages. What the baby hears, sees and is told. The stage of development in a baby is hearing, seeing and then understanding. What they hear and see first is the first step to their upbringing. When a baby is born, the Azhaan is read in their ear (hearing first). Do we now need to be told how we Muslims are also pushing our children towards Haraam from the early stages?

Infertility

"To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He wills. For He is All-Knowledgeable, All-Powerful" (Qur'an 42:49-50) Assalamu Alaykum Becoming parents, is a great blessing of Allah SWT, There are many unfortunate couples who are unable to have children. As it is mentioned in the Quraanic Ayat above, it is all in Allah's hands... Below is an extract regarding what methods of infertility treatment is and is not allowed in Islam.
