[b][16:68] Your Lord revealed to the honeybee: .Make homes in the mountains, in the trees and in the structures they raise.[16:69] Then, eat from all the fruits, and go along the pathways of your Lord made easy for you. From their bellies comes out a drink of various colors in which there is cure for people. Surely, in that there is a sign for a people who ponder. Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, All praise be to Allah (SWT) who sent down the final revelation to us through our beloved Nabi (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) to cure our spiritual and physical ailments and illnesses. All praise be to Allah (SWT) The Most Merciful of those who show Mercy who taught us what is good and beneficial for us in this world and the next. Honey, is one of those precious gifts which have been bestowed to us by Allah (SWT).

To the Muslim wife...

posted by Muadh_Khan on 3rd December 2012 - 2 comments
Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, The spiritual core of the Muslim ummah is rotting and the decay is manifesting itself in many different ways none more evident than the breakdown of relationships between Muslim families. Violation of spousal rights and even downright physical and emotional abuse is on the rise and may Allah (SWT) protect all of us and our families (Ameen). Muslim husbands of course have responsibilities but our daughters also need to be spoken to as the degradation of relationships isn’t only down to Men! Superiority of Men: My daughter, Allah (SWT) has given your husband superiority to you in clear, unambiguous words and if you try to take even equal footing (let alone superiority) know that you are arguing and fighting against a command of Allah (SWT) and not your husband and as long as you are fully and rationally willing to accept the consequences of taking what comes your way when you oppose Allah (SWT), there isn’t anything anyone else can do. [4:34] Men are caretakers of women, since Allah has made some of them excel the others, and because of the wealth they have spent. So, the righteous women are obedient, (and) guard (the property and honor of their husbands) in (their) absence with the protection given by Allah. As for women of whom you fear rebellion, convince them, and leave them apart in beds, and beat them. Then, if they obey you, do not seek a way against them. Surely, Allah is the Highest, the Greatest.

Blind Following for laymen is REQUIRED!

Asslamo Allaikum, Spinning the word Taqleed (Part 1): From the time of Sahaba (RA) the Deen of Islam has been simple to learn and follow and aligns with common sense. You are either a laymen OR an expert of Qur’aan and Sunnah and no one in Islamic history has advised to laymen who can barely read and understand English text (let alone Arabic) to simply pick up Qur’aan or Hadeeth (or use google in our days) and start deriving rulings of Shariah. [b]It’s absurd!

Spinning the word Taqleed

posted by Muadh_Khan on 22nd November 2012 - 1 comment
Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, “Spin” is the modern arm of age old practise of propaganda to change the public perception of a particular word or terminology. Today, most people are swayed by the Media and affected by spin and those who are good at it get paid millions to “spin” good news into bad and bad news into good. Some of our brothers and sisters engaged in their war on Taqleed unfortunately also employ the tactics of spin. A simple word called “Taqleed” which has been abundantly clear for over 1000 years and easily understood has been turned into a complicated concept loaded with derision and mocking. I was reading a book written by an Ahl-e-Hadeeth in urdu attempting to linguistically and impartially dissect the word Taqleed and Shaykh states that the word Taqleed comes from the root of “Qalada” and then goes to make this interesting connection. Qalaada (Taqleed) in the Qur’aan:

Freemixing and Interaction on Islamic forums & Majlis Fatwa

Asslamo Allaikum, Someone brought this Fatwa against Sunniforum to my attention yesterday and I believe that this issue is of critical importance for Muslims living in the west hence I would like to offer my worthless opinion on the matter. Since this is just my opinion others obviously have the right to disagree and comment what they believe to be right and in accordance with Islamic Shariah. The question and ensuing Fatwa is as follows: Assalamualaikum wa rahamatullahi wa barakatuh,

"Creeping" Celebrity Culture in Today's Islam

posted by Muadh_Khan on 19th November 2012 - 2 comments
Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, Islam means “Submission to the will of Allah (SWT)” and a Muslims is the one “who submits to the will of Allah (SWT)” and submission absolute humility from the servant. Modern celebrity culture on the other hand requires abstinence from humility and living a lifestyle larger than life and to be an extrovert and ensuring that you grab the maximum column width and media limelight. Success in show business depends on hogging the limelight! Unfortunately in our times the two concepts are violently colliding to give birth to something called “Celebrity culture in Islam” and this can manifest itself in Ex-celebrities embracing Islam or Ex-celebrities renouncing their lifestyle and coming onto Sunnah (Masha’Allah) or Ulamah (or laymen) proficient in giving Bayans which move the masses and literally “Rock the House”. Some of those giving the talks have nice trimmed beards, latest suits and nicely toned physiques to go with their “magical Khutbahs and talks”. The issue has become so serious that on certain Islamic blogs you can read comments from Sisters asking blatantly, “Is the brother married or is he looking for a 2nd wife?” There are incidents where Ulamah & Mashaykh have been approached by Sisters stating that they can’t live without them and would like for them to their second (or even third) wives and many have in turn married these Sisters. There are examples of such love marriages in our communities.

Racism and our daughter!

posted by Muadh_Khan on 10th November 2012 - 4 comments
Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, We (Muslims) pride ourselves on the noble and beloved teachings of our Nabi (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) and rightly so. No other prophet was so blessed and so dear to Allah (SWT) let alone another ordinary man. The revelations on our dear and beloved Nabi (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) revolutionised the globe, purged the hearts of those who accepted him and turned them (Sahaba) into the greatest characters mankind has ever witnessed. We (Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaah) consider the noble Sahaba the best of mankind after the prophets and by Allah (SWT) the Sahaba of Nabi (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) deserve our respect. Let me repeat, we don’t love the Sahaba because we are required to, rather we genuinely love, adore and admire Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA), Sayyidina Umar (RA), Sayyidina Usman (RA), Sayyidina Ali (RA) and every single one of them who had the greatest fortunate of spending even a moment with the beloved of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam). How we would love to sacrifice everything in our possession just to cast a gaze at the noble face of beloved of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam)? And Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) was his friend, confidant, companion and father-in-law! Close your eyes and just imagine the blessed Majlis of the Sahaba (RA) seated around the beloved of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) in the Masjidun-Nabawi ready to sacrifice their lives for him. Subhanullah!

Target U-L-A-M-A-H!

posted by Muadh_Khan on 5th November 2012 - 1 comment
Asslamo Allaikum, In my childhood I once went with my father for Eid or Jummuah prayers and renowned Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Abdullah Darkhawsti Saheb (RA) said in his talk that during the colonial rule the British took steps to ensure that the respect for Ulamah was eroded in the masses and said that in his lifetime he has seen phenomenal rise in derogatory terms for Ulamah like “Mulla” etc while the British continued to use words like “Father or Reverend” for their religious figures. Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Abdullah Darkhawsti Saheb (RA) repeated the “Father” vs “Mulla” argument a few times and since I was a child I didn’t really grasp what he was saying at the time. Before proceeding please note that “Mullah” is a perfectly respectable title in Persian and many notable Ulamah have been known by it such as “Mullah Ali Qari (RA)” but in Urdu this is derogatory and dismissive. Today a few decades later although I am still unable to fully comprehend the wise words of Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Abdullah Darkhawsti Saheb (RA) but I am a little wiser to what he was saying! The safety, security and sanctity of Islam and its transmission down the chain has depended upon the Ulamah, their dedication and sacrifice and make them an object of mockery and derision and you directly target Islam and its foundations. Going a step further is the rise of “Televangelism & Internet Islam” where charismatic smartly dressed Muslims with contemporary university education quote references after references and eloquently answer questions from ever hungry Muslims (for knowledge). Questions can be submitted in person, by calling in, via email, facebook (or any other social media) or however you wish from the comfort of your beloved sofa!

Reaction to Problems & Calamity

posted by Muadh_Khan on 26th October 2012 - 0 comments
Asslamo Allaikum, As I wrote this Hurricane Sandy is bearing down on North-East US and experts are predicting this to be deadly in terms of damage to property and loss of wealth because of the unique atmospheric conditions and unusually warm water temperatures. North-East US also has a large and vibrant Muslim Diaspora along the coast so if this hurricane does make landfall it is likely to cause financial damage to Muslim businesses etc. At times of calamities we should reflect upon the following verse of the Qur’aan: [b][30:41] Calamities have appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of the people have earned, so that He (Allah) makes them taste some of what they did, in order that they may return (to the right way). When (and if) Hurricane Sandy hits Muslims and Non-Muslims may be affected in equal measure as the ferocity of winds and fury of water will seem to have a mind of its own except that we know that all those whom Allah (SWT) wills will be spared and protected!
