How does an Israeli Date end up on my plate?

25th July 2011
This Ramadhan Check the Label- Don't break your fast with Israeli dates

Ramadan is a time of year when we remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Opening our fasts with dates that have come from land stolen from Palestinians goes against the spirit of this blessed month.

Israeli dates are grown in illegal settlements

And according to UN resolution 465:

Israeli's policy of building settlements and moving Israeli's into occupied Palestinian land is a violation of the fourth Geneva convention

Meanwhile Palestinians near these settlements live in abject poverty, unable to reap the rewards of their land.
