Kitab al Athar - Chapter on TAYAMMUM

posted by abu mohammed on 19th February 2012 - 0 comments
TAYAMMUM Kitab al Athar of Imam Abu Hanifa - Chapter on TAYAMMUM Lexically, Tayammum means "purpose and intention" and in Shari'ah it means to purpose going to pure earth to wipe the face and hands with the intention of becoming in a state in which it is permissable to do the prayer. 31. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us saying, Hammaad narrated to us that Ibrahim said concerning tayammum, 'You place your palms on clean soil then wipe your face, and then you place them a second time and shake them to remove the dust and wipe your hands and your forearms upto the elbows.'" Muhammad said,"We adhere to that, and we think also that one should shake the hands to remove dust each time, before wiping the face and the forearms. That is the verdict of Abu Hanifa."

THAT WHICH NOTHING POLLUTES: WATER, THE EARTH, THE PERSON IN NEED OF GHUSLAUSE OF SEXUAL RELATIONS, ETC. Kitab al Athar of Imam Abu Hanifa Chapter on THAT WHICH NOTHING POLLUTES: WATER, THE EARTH, THE PERSON IN NEED OF GHUSL BECAUSE OF SEXUAL RELATIONS, ETC. 25. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us, 'Al-Haytham ibn Abi'l-Haytham narrated to us that Ibn Abbas (ra) said, thereare four things which nothing pollutes: the body, clothing, water and clean earth"'" Muhammad said, "The explanation of that according to us is that when something dirty strikes something and one washes it, it departs from it, and so it doesn't carry the filth. With respect to water it only means that when there is a great deal of it or it is flowing, then it doesn't carry impurity."

WUDU BECAUSE OF FOOD THAT HAS BEEN COOKED OVER FIRE Kitab al Athar of Imam Abu Hanifa - Chapter on Wudu because of food that was cooked over with fire 16. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us saying, 'Amr ibn Murrah informed us from Sa'id ibn Jubayr that Abdullah ibn Amr said, "If I, in the state of wudu, was brought a large bowl of bread and meat and I ate till I was satisfied, and a large bowl of camel milk from which I drank until full, I would not care if I did not touch water. Should I make wudu because of wholesome good things?"'" meaning I will not do wudu for that. Muhammad said "This is the verdict of Abu Hanifa, and we adhere to it. There is no wudu because of that which fire has changed (by cooking). Wudu is only done because of things that exit (the body) not because of things that enter."

Kitab al Athar - Chapter on Wiping Over Leather Socks

posted by abu mohammed on 16th January 2012 - 0 comments
Wiping Over Leather Socks Kitab al Athar of Imam Abu Hanifa - Chapter on Wiping Over Leather Socks There is no disagreement about the transmission of wiping over leather socks (khuffayn) from the Sahabah (ra), since each one of them about whom it has been narrated that he repudiated it has also had it narrated of him that he affirmed it. It is narrated of al-Hasan al-Basri (ra) that he said, 'I saw seventy (70) of the people of Badr from among the Companions all of whom held the view that one wipes over leather socks.' It is for this reason that Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) held the view that it is one of the preconditions of [being one of] the people of the Sunnah and the Comunity (Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah] and he said, 'We give preference to the Shaykhayn (Abu Bakr (ra) and Umar (ra), preferring them over all the other Companions) and we love the two who were related through their daughters [to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, and they were Abu Bakr (ra) and Umar (ra)], and we hold the view that one wipes over leather socks.'

Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan (ra) said, 'Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) informed us from Hammad (ra) that Ibrahim (ra) said concerning a cat which drinks from a vessel, 'It is a member of the household and there is no harm in drinking what it leaves,' and so I (Hammad) asked him, 'Does one use what it leaves over in purification for the prayer?' He said, 'Allah has made water ilicit, but He has not commanded nor forbidden [the use of water left over by a cat].' Imam Muhammad (ra) said, 'Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) said, 'Something other than it would be preferable to me, but if one does perform wudu with it, that is valid, and if one drinks of it, there is no harm.'' Muhammad (ra) said, 'We adhere to the verdict of Imam Abu Hanifa (ra).'
