Look to the poor that you may be grateful, do not look to the rich that you may be envious. Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu 'anh): The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: “Look to those lower than you, and do not look to those above you, lest you view the favors of Allah (upon you) as trivial.” [Sahih Muslim, Book 42, Number 7070]
There are many people who are homeless, or in hospitals with severe illnesses, some even are blind or have lost a limb. Most of us alhamdulillaah are healthy, have a roof over our head, proper clothing on our bodies, and have food and drink in our stomaches, but yet, despite all these blessings, we are so ungrateful to Allaah! Spend some time imagining yourself in other peoples shoes! As Bakr al-Muzani said, "Son of Adam, if you want to know the measure of that with which Allah has blessed you, then shut your eyes!" [Ibn Abi'd-Dunya in Kitab ash-shukr - 182]
