Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
Our noble, honourable and beloved Hazrat (Shaykhul-Hadeeth) Maulana Abdul Raheem Limbada (Damat Barakatuhum) posted the following on his facebook page roughly 22 hours ago recommending the new "Qur'aan" which has an app entitled “Ayat - Al Quran” as follows:
14 hours ago our noble, honourable and beloved Hazrat (Shaykhul-Hadeeth) Maulana Abdul Raheem Limbada (Damat Barakatuhum) warned us on twitter about this translation as follows:
Be careful with the king saud uni translation Surah Taha verse 5 has been translated as "The Merciful is sitting on the throne" Salfi aqeeda— Shaykh Abdul Raheem (@ShkhAbdulRaheem) March 24, 2015
Since I have no access to our noble, honourable and beloved Hazrat (Shaykhul-Hadeeth) Maulana Abdul Raheem Limbada (Damat Barakatuhum) I had to spend the day to piece together the intricacies of Hazrat (Damat Barakatuhum)’s noble warning and decipher what is being said so here is my understanding and I sincerely apologise if I have not understood the matter as I am unable to grasp Hazrat (Damat Barakatuhum) deep wisdom and unable to gather from the deep fountains of knowledge.
Part 1: Verse in Question
Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (HA)'s Urdu translation in latest Aasaan Tarjuma Urdu:
Most Merciful (Rahman) has made Istiwa upon the Arsh, (see 7:54 for Tafseer of this verse)
Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (HA)'s words translated in English as:
The RaHmān (Allah, the All-Merciful) has positioned Himself on the Throne.
Note this is an older translation and the Urdu work is the latest.
Shaykhul Hind (Maulana) Mahmud al-Hasan Deobandi (RA)'s translation used in Tafseer-e-Usmani (Urdu):
Most Merciful (Rahman) established (Himself) on the Throne.
Dr (Muhammad Muhsin Khan) in Noble Qur'an:
Deobandees refer to this as “Salfi” translation and this is the most abundant and widely available translation and easy to get hold of:
The Most Beneficent (Allah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty).
This is the latest rendering which is primarily used in many English works now coming from Saudia Arabia and done by our noble and respected American Sister Umm Muhammad, Aminah Assami with assistance from others in the team.
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.
“Ayat - Al Quran” which is the App of the main program which our noble, honourable and beloved Hazrat (Shaykhul-Hadeeth) Maulana Abdul Raheem Limbada (Damat Barakatuhum) refres to uses this translation.
Part 2: What is the issue?
The issue is in the (English) Tafseer employed by this program which is by Shaykh (Maulana) Abul A'la Maududi (1903-1979) [RA].
Shaykh (Maulana) Abul A'la Maududi (1903-1979) [RA] original Urdu Tafheemul-Qur'aan:
Rahmaan is established (according) to His Majesty upon the Throne (dominion) of this world.
Commentary: This means that after creating he didn’t go to sleep but he (SWT) is running the affairs of this world and he is the Master of its affairs i.e. He is the Creator and the Controller.

Shaykh (Maulana) Abul A'la Maududi (1903-1979) [RA] original Urdu in Tafheemul-Qur'aan translated in English as:
The Merciful is sitting on the throne of the Kingdom. (of the universe)
Commentary: That is, "After creating the universe, He is ruling over it and conducting all the affairs of its management."
Part 3: What is the issue?
Knowledgeable/Competent in Urdu or English
Nor Knowledgable in Shariah because the translation and commentary are a Mumbo-Jumbo hotch-potch of Athari & Ashari Aqeedah and makes no sense!
Conclusion: Refrain from Tafheemul-Qur'aan of Shaykh (Maulana) Abul A'la Maududi (1903-1979) [RA]
People shouldn’t be reading the Tafseer of anyways because even in Urdu when you read the footnote it is not very good but the English translation is just diabolical!
Allah (SWT) knows best.
I didn’t realise that our dear beloved, respected and honourable Shaykh (Maulana) Suhail Akubat (HA) has solved the matter in a tweet which has taken me this long to explain
May Allah (SWT) reward Maulana in this world and the next (Ameen).
