Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
First and foremost, everyone reading this should make dua for our Brothers & Sisters in Egypt for Allah (SWT) to protect the believers, their life, their honour, their trust and their wealth and to give the highest status in paradise to those who have passed away (Ameen).
Secondly, this is my opinion of the state of the Deobandees in the West based on my limited experience and understanding and I am liable to error. It is your right to disagree, Insha’Allah.
I have been thinking about the bloodbath which the Egyptian dictatorial military regime has been inflicting upon unarmed civilians and there are lessons in this for the Deobandees to learn and to reflect upon their behaviour.
During the last 10 years there have been many incidents of a US funded, equipped and (counterinsurgency) trained Army of a Muslim country killing its own civilians, draped in National flags, asking the National press to get behind them as they perform their patriotic duty of protecting the mother land against “Terrorists”.
A blip on the world radar was the President Musharraf sanctioned “Jamia Hafsa (2007)” massacre of innocent civilians which put the Deobandees into frenzy; blogs, sites, forums sprung into action in multiple languages and the condemnation still continues to this day.
Staring in our face on every TV Channel, Radio station, tweet, facebook wall, blog is the Egyptian (2013) massacre to which the Deobandees are largely Silent (except for requests of making duas for the Ummah and also Egypt).
This clearly shows that the hearts of minds of Deobandees (in the west) are still with the East and it is no wonder that a large chunk of Muslims do not connect with the Deobandees because “Jamia Hafsa (2007)” although extremely tragic was still a fairly localised affair for most “Non-Pakistani” Muslims while the Egyptian massacre touches the heart and soul of many believers regardless of their ethnicity or origin.
May Allah (SWT) make us steadfast on His Deen and upon the Sunnah of Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) [Ameen]
