Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah's guidance)

According to the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah belief, it is necessary to have the correct knowledge and belief of the family and companions of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

In Fiqhul Akbar it is mentioned that:

"The best of people after the Messengers of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) are Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq, then 'Umar bin al-Khattab Al-Faruq; then 'Uthman bin 'Affan Thu-Nurayn [the one with two noors (lights)]; then 'Ali bin Abi Taleb Al-Murtada [the chosen one], may Allah be pleased with them all. They were all [true] worshippers, steadfast on the true path, remained [always] with the truth, and we declare our loyalty and love to all of them."

"We do not mention any of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah except righteously."

(Fiqhul Akbar, Chapter: The Righteous Caliphates, their righteous path and the importance of following and supporting them may Allah be pleased with them)

In 'Aqeedatut Tahawiyah it is mentioned that:

"We confirm that, after the death of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the caliphate went first to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (Radhiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) thus proving his excellence and superiority over the rest of the Muslims; then to 'Umar ibn al Khattab (Radhiallahu Ta'ala Anhu); then to 'Uthman (Radhiallahu Ta'ala Anhu); and then to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (Radhiallahu Ta'ala Anhu). These are the Rightly-Guided Caliphs and upright leaders."

"Anyone who speaks well of the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and his wives and offspring, who are all pure and untainted by any impurity, is free from the accusation of hypocrisy."

"We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah but we do not go to excess in our love for any one individual among them nor do we disown any one of them. We hate anyone who hates them or does not speak well of them and we only speak well of them. Love of them is a part of Islam, part of belief and part of excellent behaviour, while hatred of them is unbelief, hypocrisy and rebelliousness."

(Al 'Aqeedatut Tahawiyah)

And Only Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
